| Home Cookers IN HERE! I know we have a few on here but maybe there are more than I think.. i'd love to know who home cooks and how long you have been doing it for. and the biggest change you have noticed in your furbutts since starting. I think this is a great way for those who WANT to start to know who to go talk to i'd say in the past month i've had 4 people come ask for homecooking pointers and i love it! I've been homecooking since.... May of last year... i think... and the biggest change i've noticed in Layla is her overall health.. we used to be at the vet ALL the time for diarrhea and anal glads... i can't remember the last time we had a problem with either! oh and because pictures are fun... post a picutre of your pup |

| Ellie has been getting homecooked on and off (mostly on) since about April 2007. We are sticking with it. She was on kibble before that and had a rough patch of hair on her back, she threw up every week or two for no reason and her nose was usually warm. All of this has changed now.

| I've been home cooking for 48 years, and I have NEVER had a dog with any serious medical conditions. Not saying even with feeding real food you wouldn't. Breeding plays a big roll in the health of the dog. We are in charge of what they eat and in case of any allergies, we don't have to search very far to find what it is. Also you will find that allergies are almost non-existent with feeding real food. |

Have you ever fed dog food and are you tired of homecooking now? What a committed owner you are.

I started home preparing almost a year ago in March, about the time of all the food recalls. Both Ruby and Reno are in excellent health and the best part is I don't have to worry what the mfgr's are going to allow in food next.

I make my own suppliement.. but you need a general suppliment (SOlid Gold SeaMeal is great) and a calcium phospherous (Solid Gold Bone Meal is great) some people, Like Suzy make actual receipe... like a mac and cheese but i think she had tuna in it.. so either way you can go ! | |

| Ellie gets chicken or egg with brown rice and oatmeal or wheat pasta or sweet potato with green beans, carrots, squash, bell peppers, broccili and cauliflower. We use an all-in-one supplement called BalanceIT K. She also gets yogurt and cottage cheese on occasion and all the raw veggies she wants to munch on.

| Yup, that's the site. I wouldn't be able to tell you how much to use because a nutritionist calculated it for me. I also use BalanceIT K (it is better for Ellie's liver problems) and I prefer it. Usually the BalanceIT Canine (I think it is) is given to healthy dogs though. I do not like the menadione in the regular. That is why I like the K. You can give flavored yogurt (no artificial sweetners) but plain is best because of the sugar in the others. I prefer Stonyfield brand. I am more comfortable using BalanceIT for homecooking then other supplements because it was made especially for homecooking. So many companies are selling supplements that you can add to dog food but dog food doesn't need anything extra, so I don't think they have enough vitamins and minerals in them.
