| Real Heartache with Bandit Bandit is giving me real heartache. He wont EAT, he wont drink, he just wont play he wont do anything. I have tried syringe feeding him but he is 8 months and I feel that this is wrong to do at this age, but since Scooby died he just stopped doing all the things he loves to do and eat. he wont even touch his beloved cheese or carrot. I am at my witts end trying to make him eat. What can I do to make him eat all his favorite foods that he loved so much when scooby was here? As soon as he heard scooby eating he will gobble up his food, now he hears nothing and is not interested to eat. he was like this before we brought scooby home then his eating improved. I will get a second dog this year but in the interim, what do I do? He is loosing weight since scooby died |

| How about scrambling up some eggs for him? I would try very hard to syringe feed him some water though!

| How about cooking him some meat? They normally won't turn down chicken or beef. Or try some canned food if you haven't already done that. Maybe try a different kind of canned food that might pique his interest. If he goes much longer without drinking, you will probably need to get him to the vet cause it won't take long for him to get dehydrated. |

That is his meal, home made turkey, chicken, rice, carrots and barley mixed up and tasting good, that is what I feed him and he has been eating it for months since scooby was with me. Now he does not want it or anything. Cheese is something he goes nuts for, he refused every bit of it. only sulks and lays curled up in bed He wont touch dry or canned or anykind. I am syringe feeding the water and nutri cal diluted in the water Last edited by soccbydo; 01-22-2008 at 10:33 AM.

| Poor little Bandit. I believe he is moarning his beloved friend. Give him a couple of days. They do moarn very much like we do. Leave his food down, maybe a little longer and supplement with nutrical like your doing. No dog ever starved its self to death, of course unless he was sick. Finger's crossed he get's back to his normal puppy self real soon.. Hugs to Bandit from us, |

| Do this recipe in the syringe, it's more solid than water and nutrical. 1 cup instant baby rice cereal (mixed with milk) 1 jar baby meat 1/2 tsp karo syrup This brought our puppy's appetite back after she'd been spayed. |

Thank you, I just gave him a hefty dose of nutrical from my hands and he licked it. He is drinking water again, thank God for that. I will leave kibble and some snackies for him he can eat what he likes when he likes. i am sure he is missing scooby, it has to be. Maybe it took a couple of days for him to realize he is on his own again, poor soul. I wonder what he is really feeling like

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am so sorry you are having problems with Bandit after all you have gone thru. When Dixie was so sick I needed her to eat she was down to 1 1/2lbs and I gave her some Cesars beef that my pom eats and she ate it. I am praying Bandit will eat and improve quickly.

| I am also sure he is just so upset loosing his play mate.. but keep a good watch on him.. it does not take much to dehydrate them.. I went through this and had to get another baby for my Kacee when this happened.. except my daughter got sara as she was 4.5 pounds of pure aggression and just wanted to kill him. It made it all extra hard then. puppy hugs pooh's mum |

| Ok, vet said he is just depressed and when he eats it will upset him just like us humans if we are mourning and eat, sometimes it comes back up. But for now I will not be sure until I have a second set of blood work done on Friday, he didnt want to do it today because there is a time between the last one last week and this new one to prove if he has any toxins in his body. Poor fellar. I syringe fed him yogurt with vitamins and then carrots and potato, then melted cheese and gave him and he licked it up, then some nutrical. He wont touch meat. I saw him eat about 5 tiny kibble YEEPEE, each kibble he eats is a big party. |
