My Little Man! Donating Member | Need advice about pet insurance I am debating on whether to get a pet insurance or not. Some people say its not worth it because you end up spending more money on insurance because you have to pay every month. Other people say that had problems with their dogs and had to shell out a lot of money are saying I wish I enrolled in pet insurance because it would cover a lot of expenses. So now I am all confused should I get a pet insurance or not. My baby is young he will be a year old soon. I was just thinking things happen and maybe if you have a pet insurance that will cover major things like hospital etc maybe worth having it? What do you guys think? Do you have a pet insurance?

| Hi, It's kinda like people insurance, you don't need it until you do. After Milo had his hip surgery last year I got it, while it dose not cover the full portion of all my claims it covers some, and I feel better knowing that it is there in case we come upon an emergency again. Hope that helps Cheryl |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I've been checking into pet insurance also. There is one that is only about $18 per month for each dog. It has a $100 deductible, covers everything but routine visits which is an optional add on tho, with a $2,500 limit per incident, no annual limits, $42,500 lifetime limit. This was the SPCA best for 2008 insurance company. http://www.petsbest.com/plans/default.aspx

| I had bought pet insurance (VPI) last year for both my girls because Bailey had been getting sick a lot. I then took Angel in to get spayed, baby teeth pulled & microchipped and they only paid $42.00 out of the $390.00. They do not pay for anethesia, how do you expect a dog to have surgery without it? You have to pay your bill up front, have the vet sign and fill it out then fax or send in. They then didn't cover very much on the cost of vacinations. I thought it would be a good deal for us but I would rather just pay and not worry about it. I get irritated enough with our family health Insurance. When I cancelled they did prorate my payments and reimbursed me. I changed Bailey's food from Royal Canin to Nature's Variety and she doesn't get sick like she did. There are a few other plans out there now that may be better.

My Little Man! Donating Member | Thank you guys! I figured in the long run its worth it. I checked VPI insurance also when I got my puppy. I ll shop around and find the best. For neutering thou I heard about vouchers that you can get, they give you a big discount. I figure I ll use that because with insurance it takes 30 days to be enrolled and able to use it. Maxi needs to get neutered this month thou. I dont know where to get it yet in New York I only found one that states it only approves if you are on a public assistance which I am not. You guys right its better be save then sorry. My friend lost his pet after crazy surgeries (the surgeries didnt help) and ended up paying $8,000 because he didnt have insurance
