| Question about pooping Okay, so my little Schmoo is cute, adorable and overall peepad trained. We have had a problem with her tummy being sensitive and soft poops. She is on a special vet diet, which is supposedly easier for her to break down. She goes to go poop on her papers and does, then walks away and then has to go again, uncontrollably so, so it does not matter where she is (i.e. bed, couch, floor) and she does not even have time to get into the hunch, she just goes...and to make matters worst this poop is soft and just a hershey's melted kiss. Her intentions are good, she starts on the papers, but 30 seconds after that is finished...there is another soft pile somewhere...anyone had this issue...any suggestions on dealing with this...I don't think that she means to not go on her papers, I think she just has to go uncontrollably, and that she thought she was done and then isn't...her poop on the papers is usually of good consistency and not runny, it is the 30 second follower that is the problem. Okay, enough of the poop, any suggestions or others that have had the same problems...oh and Schmoo is 5 months and a bit...and other than that...a joy. Thanks Nadine |

| I have the same problem. However, I wish I had an answer. I'm beginning to wonder if it may be her food. I feed her Wellness and she has had no problems in the past. I wish I had an answer, maybe someone can help us SOON (before she destroys my house). lol

| I am by all means not an expert, but it just makes sense that it would be her food. Just think about what certian foods do to humans. I spent a long time with a guy at the pet store who really knew his stuff and he directed me to Royal Canin. My yorkie goes 3-4 times a day and it is very solid. Good luck!!! |

| I really have no answers except if their fecals are coming back normal (are they?) then it must be the food. Have you tried pumpkin to firm it up (this also has the opposite effect for future reference...)? Would you be willing to homecook? Beet pulp can harden stools. It is found in a few dogs foods but none of them (as far as I remember) are any good.

| I have also had this problem with a Jack Russell Terrier, I was feeding her wee bits from solid gold beside the soft poop, she was bounching off the walls too much protein I guess, anyway she back on S/D natural choice,(what her owner had her own before she came to stay with us for 6 mos) and her poop has return to normal, she still a little terror though. |

| You all talk about wonderful foods that are available in the U.S., any suggestions for up here in Canada? right now she is on special food to help her digest it better, but the challenge is she does not really like it much. I have taken to feeding her some white rice with a bit of Caesars food in the a.m., which she loves, but if I don't do this, she starves herself and ends up vomiting bile from her tummy to tell me that she is hungry. She gets in trouble when she does not poop on the papers, but taking her outside, is like a 2 hour walk before she will poop and it is cold here. I am doing my best but...need help. Potty training is not easy! |

| You might try brown rice no spices with chicken or beef liver I wld boil chicken thigh or beef produces and add a tablespoon of brown rice boiled all together than add the peas, carrots, etc, at end. Mix well the peas will need to be mash. I found that this plug Chelsea up and she wld be back to normal. I do not feel her commercial dog food, just because we are really not sure what they add, especially if some produces come from China (which in someway it does), also Chelsea love cheese so a little at a time. She only now goes poo 1st a day, so she is absorbing it all not pooing is way. |
