| More food questions from me.... OK if you read me you know I have a problem dog. Maybe I have a solution and Im courious if raw feeders think this will work. Can I give my babies half a day food in NV raw for brealfast and the second half in the Innova Evo? The vet said its best to give Chloe live yougart daily so I'll cut the EVO with the yougart to keep it moist and not quite so much protien. I'm also courious if cottage cheese has live bacteria. Thanks for putting up with me |

| I feed my two kibble in the morning and raw for the evening meal. The only reason I do the raw at night is then I can wash their bowls when I do the evening dishes. If feeding raw in the morning is more convenient for you do it that way. I do give the girls some plain organic yougart from time to time just to give them something different ,I'm not sure they need it daily as evo has a probiotic in it but if a pup is not eating well or is sick it can help. | I don't see a problem with it. Just don't feed the meals with bones close to the kibble meals.

| Yes, you can do that. The main problem with feeding raw and kibble together is that most kibbles have grains in them which digest slower. But Innova Evo doesn't have grains so it digests faster, similar to the raw. You could actually feed a grain-free dry or canned food with the raw and shouldn't have any issues

| Im going to the store today and goin to buy!!!! I'll get the Innova I KNOW Chloe will eat and the nv bag of medallions and Ill try some canned that is grain free too. I want my babies health and happy. Sometimes I feel a little sorry for my 2 healthy babies since they have to deal with Chloes problems too. But they dont seem to mind, and they have a stomche of steal. Especially Tank he eats EVERYTHING. One thing I wonder about. Before chloe had problems everyone told me it was best to get 1 food and feed it exclusively and not change foods often because it would cause sick stomaches. Is that an old wives tale or do most dogs have problems with change? Mine eat whichever I giive them happily and only Chloe has had any problems. But I admit Im more gental with the changes with Lana, being the baby and all. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Cottage cheese doesn't have live cultures - but the yogurt will be good for that! You can def. feed the way you're planning, as long as they stay hydrated. The "sticking to 1 food" thing is really dependent on the dog - some dogs have no reaction, some a bit, some have a bad reaction. I've always seen little to no reaction in my own dogs when changing diets. (same w/ the cats I've had)

| Cottage cheese contains prebiotics (fibers) and yogurt contains probiotics(good bacteria)...The prebiotics are good because they serve as a source of "food" for the probiotics. In conjuction, they help the digestive system run smoothly along with the other benefits. Here's a link if you want to read a little more about it: http://healthnewsdigest.com/news/Foo..._printer.shtml

| table scraps??? Question...Prissy loves table scraps, my husband (and the rest of us are awful) he will give her pieces of meat all the time. I am to the point where we have to have breakfast together now, I don't give her milk but some of my cereal or toast. Is this bad for her? She does eat her dog food if we have something that has alot of seasoning and we don't give her anything. She loves canned tuna and gets really excited when we just take it out of the cupboard, she gets beef hotdogs and cottage cheese too.

A diet of entirely people food (with supplements) is perfectly fine for a dog. The problem is the kind of food that is fed. Cottage cheese is fine but hotdogs are not. Here are the rules I go by (Ellie does get homecooked food...no dog food): No chocolate No onion No or very limited garlic No salty meat (can cause kidney damage if given too much) No fatty meats (pancreatitis) Nothing spicy Nothing with hydrogenated oil (as much as possible) Very limited refined sugar No macedamia (sp?) nuts No grapes or raisins No or very limited tomato I'm sure I'm missing some.
