| Gizmo is supposed to have a bath today too, but I'm worried about how to do it with his ear infection. He's on GentaVed Otic Solution (Gentamicin sulfate with betamethasone valerate) Should I just put cotton balls in his ears and be extra careful? Or should I wait to bathe him?

| Judy, sorry to hear your Gizmo baby is having ear problems...Winston and I wish him well. I really don't know much about this, as Winston sees his groomer very 2 weeks...and she does it all for me, including removing the hair from the inside of his ears and cleaning them. Personally I'd wait on the bath if he has an infection...maybe just a few days. Hugs to you both...

If he is due for his bath you can give it to him just when it's time to wash his head fold down his ears. I always fold them down to be sure no water gets in there.

| every time i pluck my girls hairs out of her ears, she immediately gets an infection. Apparently some form of serum is released. ??? i just recently purchased some type of ear drops i am going to try. I have to check my babies ears constantly. already 3 times this week. she has a lot of hair in there now becasue i don't want to pluck in anymore. When her ears bother her- she pants a lot and she already has ct so any addtional panting makes her very bad. WE have a little one with severe ct. I decided to let the hair grow and instead i use ear cleaner once a week and i check them every day or so. a super tiny piece of wax could have her scratching and digging in her ear for days. we already had her tested and no signs of infection- vet just said to get the hair out. i haven't plucked any hair and for the last 3 mos she has been fine. when i pluck the hair out we have problems. since i have been cleaning once a week with the ear cleaner it helps a lot. |

| I was also told to find an ear powder...sprinkle a little in his ear...then put a Q-tip into the inside ear hair and twist...then pull. I haven't had the courage to try it yet though. And yes, hemos are probably hemostats. They are used to clamp off blood vessels and such during surgery. They look like a combination of scissors and clamps.
