				 | Lacy is microchipped, as is my younger cat. I may get my older cat microchipped sometime soon as well (when I got her I lived in a small town where no one microchips). I would microchip on your first visit to the vet - it's not any more painful than any other shot. I know someone said microchipping doesn't guarantee their return and that's true, but the more ID on them the better...microchipping very much increases the chances of being returned. Lacy wears a tag with my phone number too.

				 | I truly believe it is just another saf guard to protect your pup...it may not work in all cases, but for me if something does happen I like to know I have done everything I can to get my little ones back. I have heard in some cases dogs have been lost and found years later, but because of the chip they did get their pups back. Just my opinion

				 | We had 2 small dogs turn up in our driveway about 2 months ago. A lady was bringing them around asking if they were ours. The first thing I did was check for a microchip - with all our dogs you can feel it just under the skin in the neck. We couldn't find one. The lady kept knocking at every house up the street and the next step was to take them to the vet to have them scanned. I don't know if they ever got returned but in cases like this it's incredibly useful to have a microchip. |

| My furkids Donating Member | I don't have mine chipped. First, I have read stories where dogs have gotten tumors at the site of the injection. Second, (IMO) if you furbaby got lost you would have to have a very honest person that would bring them to have them scanned. The way these little ones are being stolen I find it hard to believe that someone would have this done.

				 | YES! If they ever got lost and an honest person found them I would want to make sure they had a chance to be returned home. My three little ones do not wear harnesses except for when they are with me on a leash so if somehow they ever got out a chip would be their only ID. Having found a number of dogs over the years, I know how much faster/easier it is for everyone when the dog is chipped. |

				 | My Emmy is microchipped. We had it done when she was spayed. Alyssa on the other hand, is not. Her vet wants to just do it in his office without any pain medicine. I just can't do that to her. If she has to be put to sleep for any procedure we will have her microchipped. Until then we just try to keep her close at hand and just hope that her collar id would work in case she became lost. Hopefully, no one would take it off from her. She will eventually be microchipped, too. I just think it is very important for their safety...and our peace of mind.

				 | Yes. Here it's a law requirement to microchip them when they get their first rabbies vaccine, so Milo got microchipped at 3 about 3 months. I would have microchipped him anyway, if he ever gets lost I want to increase his possibilities of coming back home. |
