| I am so thankful that Kiko will be OK! Our vet had us give Toto NutriCal until she was over a year old. It's loaded with vitamins & nutrients and she was such a picky eater.

| Thank you everyone for caring and for the great information, I don't know what exactly brought the attack on as I thought he was eating enough (about 4 tbls a day) at least I thought it was enough. It may have been the walk because his appetite seemed ok before hand. Looking at yorkieusa's post I'm thinking maybe it was the bath I gave him after the walk we had outside. He was soggy from the dew on the grass and had a chill so I bathed him in warm water and dried him in his towel and brushed him...I'm thinking it may have been the chill from the dewy grass. After this I think eveyone with a tiny baby yorkie should have a 24 hour emergency vet phone number and nutri-cal in their medicine cabinet. It's a wonderful supplement. This evening even though he is still resting his eyes are bright and cheery and ihe is back to his sweet self again thank God!

| Oh and yea he is picky when he eats so I have to monitor what he eats and sometimes play with him with the food to get him to eat it, but he was eating and drinking well. But I'm keeping him on the wet food the vet gave me for sometime because he chows it down like nobody's business and it makes me feel good in the pit of my stomach to see him eat like that without me coaxing him. Besides I'd rather have a healthy puppy that I have to keep an eye on his teeth than one that has great teeth and is sickly. When he's older I'll try dry. I should have known..he came from such a rough environment and has just got over the limp in his leg. I feel a bit guilty, that was stress I overlooked. I should have been more prepared. I just thought that since he was in a better place now with so much love that that would have made all that go away but thinking back on it he has nightmares when he sleeps and sometimes I have to wake him gently out of them. I should have realized and bought him a supplement. I know better now.

| I am glad he is doing better. My pup Jewels was only 12 ounces when we broght her home and I worried about hypoglycemia, I would continue to keep your eye on him because for some reason some yorkies are prone to hypoglycemia where others have no problem with it. I never had any problems with it with either one of my dogs.

| Hi I am a new yorkie mommy and I have read about hypoglycemia but not about giving nutri-cal. What is nutri-cal and where can I get it? It sounds like something I would should have on hand. Also, I read a post that said it happens to pups six to twelve weeks old, is that right, or is it something that can happen at any time during their whole life? Our little one has been sick off and on in the past so now when anything is out of sync I worry. My husband says I have become a worry wart. Our baby is doing well right, has been for a few months, but to think of anything else going wrong just depresses me. If someone can please let me know about the above questions I would appreciate it. I want to be a prepared and knowledgeable mother. Also I love this site, I have learned so much already. I am so glad that this exists. Have a great day! Sara |

| OMG!! I am SO glad that Kiko is better!! The poor baby! I know how scarey that can be because my Maltese Codie has a hypoglycemia attack when he was a pup and it scared the life out of me and my husband!! What I do is give my babies 1 inch of Nutrical 3 times a day, plus on extra hot days, I give them some karo syrup just to be safe. I also leave the air conditioner on during the day while I am at work so that they don't get sick from the heat. Good luck w/ your baby Kiko!!

| Maybe someone with more experience can tell you if hypoglycemia attacks can still happen after their first year. I do know that you can get Nutri-cal at the vet's office and some pet supply stores. It comes in a long thin white and light blue box and inside is a tube of browns sweet syrupish looking substance. It kinda has the texure of tooth paste and if it gets hot it'll get kinda runny. I squeaze a bit on my finger on place it at the roof of his mouth so he can lick it down. At the vet's office my nutri-cal tub cost me 7 bucks. I hope this helps.

| Thanks. That does help. I'm so glad that Kiko is ok. I know that I would have probably freaked out myself. I am definitely putting that on my list of things to do-get some nutri-cal. Thanks again! |

| Yorkie Lover Donating Member | I am so glad that Kiko is okay!!! About half down the story I thought it was going to turn out bad, but I am glad that it did not...I am happy that you were able to find a vet that was open, I know how hard it can be... This past Christmas we were out of town and Magic had accidently got into some chocolate that was in one of our stockings, we called ever vet we could but could not find one that was open (it was late in the evening)...we were scared to death and then all of sudden we talked to a vet who came up to the office and took care of my baby...I will always be thankful to that vet and all the staff, they truly did save my baby's life... We always have to be careful and make sure we know of vets that are open at all times, you never know when a emergency will occur...we have a 24hr clinic near us and we have used it on a number of occassions... I will Kiko in my prayers as he continues to get better....
