| Stage 1 Luxating Patella We went to the vet today and Layla has stage 1 LP in her back right leg... is it possible to have this for the rest of her life without it progressing to stage 2??? i feel abit confused... we LOVE our new vet though.. she is JUST what i've always wanted in a vet!!! Layla is 6 lbs!!! i can't believe it she said she is the picture of health and is very impressed with how well she is going on home cooking- while my vet doens't know muc about it, she supports it if you are doing it properly. tomorrow we hear back about her blood work and i'm keeping my fingers crossed thoughts on LP??? please! |

| Well, I'm glad that she's healthy except for the LP. I don't know anything about that, but I hope it's not too terribly serious. Did your vet give you any idea what to expect down the road?

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Morgan has a grade 1 LP in her right hind. i guess its possible for it to not get any worse but since they are dogs and active it probably won't happen. I have her on a joint supplement and she'll be on one for the rest of her life. I'm almost out of the stuff she's on now and then i'm going to get this one http://stores.wildaboutmeat.com/Detail.bok?no=1037

| You may remember back when Zada had both knees operated on at the same time. She had a grade 3. (4 being the worse) Azrael has had grade two ever since I got her at 5 months old. She will be 3 Jan. 16 and it hasn't progressed. I started both of them on glucosamine chondroitin after Zada's surgery back in June of 06. I hope Azrael's never get worse, and the Vet. seems to think she will be fine, and to keep her weight as it is now. |

| Jen has Stage 1 in both back legs. I can feel her knee pop in and out sometimes but she does not skip or limp. We have her on a supplement through our vet - Standard Process Canine Musculoskeletal Support. I'm trying to find powder or liquid MSM to add to her diet. PS: There is absolutely nothing wrong with this thread. Maybe it's a misunderstanding?
