| how do groomers remove tear stains? I have a question about tear stains. When Sputy came back from the groomer they got all the tear staining out, but for me at home, no matter what product i use, i can't seem to get the stains to come out. I am wondering if any of you have grooming experience and know how to get this ugly stain colour out of the fur. I bought a product from my vet as well as others from petsmart, but it's not that good. people say that the staining gradually goes away, but the groomer does it in under half an hour! what's their secret? |

| I am not sure what their secert is but simonanhallie posted a while back that she used contact lense solution. I decided to try it....cause it is way cheaper than the tear stain removal products on the market and you know what? IT WORKS!!!! like magic. The one I picked up was Bausch and Lomb ReNu

| So do you just put the contact solution on a cotton ball? And then rub it on the spots you want off? |

| The groomer might use thinning shears and cut them out. Sometimes that was what I would do on my westie for discolored hair. He didnt' have any tear stains, but I did this sometimes in the places he did have stains, like the corners of his mouth. Just an idea.

| I just got some of Walmart's generic brand...that stuff supposedly disintigrates the proteins. I used it last night on Max's crusty eye stuff, and it seems like it helped make it easier to remove (without giving him a bath). I'm going to use it again today when I bathe him. He doesn't really have any "stains" except when I don't clean his face. I do think probably using just a wet, warm washcloth does just as well though. At least I only spent $3 for a BIG bottle .
