Donating YT 500 Club Member | Jasper's Face Jasper had his first grooming last week. Ever since, he won't let me touch his face. I like to keep the hair around his eyes clean from the build up. Usually a wet wash cloth or cotton ball. Now it's me fighting him to keep still. It never works and the area around his eyes need to be cleaned. Any suggestions?

| Oh no. I wonder if they pulled too hard on his whiskers or something like that. Something made him fear being touched there. The only suggestion I have is treat, lightly wipe, treat, love, lightly wipe, rinse and repeat. I am sure others have some more helpful tips.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I agree with Terri use treats. I did it with topknot and cleaning his eyes. I break a Cheerio in half. I also use a little flea comb to clean his eyes. It works wonderful

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Thanks ladies!! He LOVES his Cheerios and I do have a flea comb. Poor baby...he has always trusted me with anything. Now I'm going to have to earn his trust I guess. But, I am a very patient person. I think that came from raising 3 boys Do y'all groom your furbabies yourselves? I really think I'm going to give it a try after last week.

| I agree that he sounds like something was disagreeable when his face was being groomed and that has made him skittish. I do groom Huey myself, mostly. I have given up the toenail/feet fight, so I have a groomer that I take him to just for his clean feet (feet clipped very close, silky-style) and nails. Everything else I do myself. The first year, I had to take him to a groomer to be evened up a couple of times but with experience I have become much better and faster and I think he looks pretty good. Good luck with the grooming. Trial and error, and the hair DOES grow back.

No, I don't groom Harry.....we do around his bottom and eyes etc....but I leave the rest to his groomer, as she does nails and expresses his anal glands etc. I personally think it's worth you giving it a go though, as you were so upset There's no harm in it, the hair does grow back fairly quickly as you know....and at least you can do it a little at a time, gauging him as you go I truly with you luck! | I agree with the rest. Maybe the groomer was a bit rough. You need to keep at it gently, talk softly, and give him a little treat as you go. I always tell Deuce to "Stand like a show dog" and he does!!!! Even when I trim his paws he will stand there where I place his feet. But I always talk softly no matter how many times I have to remind him.
