YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Yes many show breeders wrap the coat. There may be if you google it, a free video you can watch on how to do it. I know Kristin McGregor has some good DVD's you can purchase on grooming the show Yorkie. It is pretty time consuming, especially when you are first learning it.

YT 1000 Club Member | I have one girl who gets wrapped and I can tell you without Kirsten's video I would have made a horrible mess of her coat. I have also learned to ask what others use. It's not an easy task to undertake because what may work for one dog might not work for another. Some products can be to heavy for a fragile coat and cause a tremendous amount of breakage, some products can dry up the Yorkies natural body oils leaving you with a flaky mess. Currently I use 100% extra virgin olive oil mixed with vellus conditioner and distilled water. and deli wraps. So far that is what is working best for this girls coat. in 3 months her hair is almost to the ground.

YT 1000 Club Member | It all depends on the dog. If I were you I would purchase a wrapping jacket first before you start wrapping the hair. This way it keeps your Yorkie from bothering the wraps and will help prevent breakage.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Are you planning on showing or do you just want to grow a long coat. There's no way I'd wrap a pet yorkie, and it really is necessary for growing a long coat. I've been told that the number one secret to growing coat is to wash frequently; dirt is an enemy of hair. Use a good dog shampoo and conditioner and make sure you rinse well after shampooing. Joey easily grew out a long coat, but playing with other dogs really hurt it. It was a large Shih Tzu puppy who pawed his back when they played and you could see the hair breaking off. Wearing some type of protective clothing when playing with dogs might be a good idea, and I like the idea of wrapping jackets and silk beds, things that will protect the hair, yet not annoy the dog.

| No, Jada will not be a show baby. I just want to grow her coat. I dont think I will wrap her, I will try the wrapping jacket when it gets cooler. She does get her weekly bath and daily brushing. I have just started to use Yorkie Splash and Shine. So far so good. Im looking for a good coat oil though. I use to use pet silk, Im thinking of trying Pure Paws. Thanks for all of the feed back. Her hair is growing nicely. But she has started to scratch. Maybe I will put some socks on her back feet |

| Thanks, the itching actually started before the new shampoo. Im wondering if it's her food. She's on Royal Canin which she has been on since we got her almost 5 years ago however this is a new one for xtra small dogs. So maybe your right I havent been rinsing well enough. I will keep a close eye on it. |

YT 1000 Club Member | Just a quick tip for you. If you do use a wrapping jacket you will definitely need to take it off everyday to brush the hair to prevent tangles and matts. Always use a detangler or some type of spray before brushing. Mist it over the dog or spray on your brush before brushing.

| The itching is not bad. She had some dry patches but since we started with the Yorkie Splash and Shine the dry patches are gone. |
