aw thanks guys, for some reason Pooter's coat is even more prone to matte's just because of his poor care up until we recieved him in Oct. he gets brushed once in the a/m and once in the p/m and I also use a trimming with the longest attachment to thin and trim from time to time... obviously his poor bum got more than a trim with the hubby.

I've managed to brush his little bum out good and it's fairly masked, so hopefully it grows fast from here on! haha

Furminators should not be used on that type of coat. Sure it will remove some of the under coat but it will also break healthy top coat. Also, if not used correctly, you can do damage to the skin.

With all due respect I have been using it on Sarge for 3 years and his coat is gorgeous. It always grows back, strong and thick, and we've never had an issue of his skin being damaged in any way. He's a silky pom and it hasn't changed his coat in any way, it just takes off the excess fluff, that covers his silver tips, so that he is more comfortable in the summer.
