| How to groom a 2 month old I'm hoping you all can help me I just got my baby yorkie this past weekend and he's 9 weeks old. Obviously he's too young to go to the groomers as he has not had all of his vaccinations yet and his vet doesn't want him to be in that kind of environment with other animals until then. My baby Oliver's coat is really getting matted and I brush him everyday but it still just doesn't look soft and clean. I'm going to give him a bath tonight with this new puppy shampoo/conditioner that his vet recommended but will that make him look soft and fluffy like a puppy should look like?? I'm also afraid to trim his nails myself because I don't want to hurt him. What did you all do for your little one when he was this young?? Thanks!! |

| You can bathe your puppy just make sure you get them very dry after and keep them very warm. Every puppy has a different coat... so there is no saying if it will get fluffy after the bathe, but maybe! I usually just had the vet clip the nails on my little ones when they were in for something else. good luck!

| Use a metal comb and pin head brush to remove mats..he may fight and cry because of the tangles..first use a spray condition for detangling and gently work through to the skin to remove dead hair and mats..you may have to do a few sections at a time until all is done..make the sessions short at first of he is matted...then comb to the skin once a day..get him used to grooming. Never bath a matted puppy..the water will set the knots worse. Get him use to a dryer and and good conditioner after the shampoo will help..protect hsi ears from water..you can use baby wipes inbetween baths...I bath my pups once a week..and you can use a nice spray freshner to make him smell good... At hsis age his coat wil not be too long and fluffy...by 12 to 16 he should be a fur ball depending on his genetic's.. |

| I bought a nice pair of ball tipped scissors for bad matts. I start by the skin and then face the scissors outwards and cut - a couple of times - and then brush it out. I don't think it's worth putting them through too much brushing/combing if the matt is that bad. JMO Here's a link to what they look like. Invest in some good grooming items - it pays off in the long run. Top Paw™ Ball Tipped Scissors - Grooming - Dog - PetSmart
