| I bought a nice pair of ball tipped scissors for bad matts. I start by the skin and then face the scissors outwards and cut - a couple of times - and then brush it out. I don't think it's worth putting them through too much brushing/combing if the matt is that bad. JMO Here's a link to what they look like.
