| Well, I've got the poo stuck too the butt problem also. Madison's poo is never firm and her poo is always so messy to clean up. I wish she would have a firmer poo. When I got her she was on Royale Canin puppy 33 ( not sure if I spelled it right), I have since changed it too Nature's recipe, and it has not changed. I guess I should try something else.

Now the little one, she is like a bucking bronco to do anything. I am going to take her for nail clipping this weekend because she will NOT let me do it.

I am by no means saying that it never has happened in the past just that it is not normal to have to wash any pups butt after each bowel movement. If you are there is something wrong and it is most likely the food they are eating. Of course you need to keep their butt hair short but that should be enough to keep them clean~hence groomers every 6 weeks or so. I have talked about this before and would suggest adding canned pumpkin to their food if it is so soft that it sticks. Mine eat NB Sweet Potato and Venison with pumpkin and a little warm water. I started doing this when Doodlebug was very little because his little tummy would be upset sometimes. Now they get it because they are just spoiled. If could possibly be the treat that are being fed as well. You also need to feed good quality treats because that will make very loose sticky poops too.

| This is so funny, because I was sitting here thinking I was a bad mommy for not wiping Winston's butt. I can't even remember the last time he had a butt bath...he was probably still a puppy. "Knock on wood"!!! I must say that my groomer does an excellent job of keeping him neatly clipped around the rear end.

| Ellie has softer stool right now and her hair is as long back there as it is on the rest of her body. She still really doesn't get messy. If she did, she would get a butt bath. If you are looking to stop the germs on the bed, wipes aren't going to do any good and then they can't lick their butts either... A change in diet may firm it up but in general their butts should not have to be washed. If that is somebody's preference, I can certainly see why. I just don't see how it is healthy to wash butts 1-2 times a day everyday. And the time that it would take for several dogs...it just wouldn't be worth it to me.

| My girls all get the baboon butt clip. I use the scissors to keep it really clean and close. I used one of those little shavers on Candy once and she got razor burn so i stopped that. It they get any poo stuck on their hair, i just take a paper towel and wet it down and give them a little cleaning that way. They always have good solid poos so it usually isn't a problem unless they have a thread or other unidentifiable object they have digested |

| Was wondering this but thought it might be naive of me to ask the question, George has had a few accidents and needed urgent washing but now that his food is stable so is his poo, but what about baby wipes there are a lot of brands on the market and my local pet shop does'nt stock pet wipes, I do trim his bottom now but sometimes he just needs a little wipe I use damp tissue but thought proper wipes might be better.

| When we go outside to potty I have a small ziploc bag in my pocket that contains two paper towels inside - one wet and one dry. The dry one is for scooping the poop and the wet one is ready for a quick wipe down, if needed. I find it is easier to wipe right away rather then letting it dry and get stuck Now that he is groomed (first time this past week) pooping is considerablly cleaner because his bum is shaved. Typically there is nothing to wipe... His poops are very solid so we don't usually have too much to wipe - I think it is his morning yogurt that helps out with the consistency factor!! |
