| My Experiences as a Petsmart Bather/Brusher I posted a new entry in my blog that I thought some of you may be interested in it. You can find it here: http://llofte.wordpress.com/ It is about my job as a bather at Petsmart and my personal review about the location I worked at. It's not exactly positive... |

| Scruffy went to petsmart once to get groomed as a puppy. NEVER AGAIN!!! He had to stay there ALL DAY! He was totally terrified when I picked him up & clinged on to me for dear life when she handed him over to me. I noticed a flea on him when we got home, they didn't even shave & cut the top third of hair on his ears & that's is the One reason he went there!!! I was told that the groomer had cut another dogs ear recently & was not trimming hair on the ears anymore. He is 3 yrs old now - I now have 5 yorkies & have learned how to groom them myself.

| It's really sad... but I'm not surprised. There is only 1 groomer at the location I was at that I thought was "ok" and would recommend to pet-parents who were nervous. Feel free to leave comments too so that other people who read my blog know that it's not just me. If you click on the title, you will be directed to the page dedicated to that post where you can post comments on the bottom. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Wow, thanks for the enlightening, article, I'm sure what you're saying is true, the sad thing is this is common in so many jobs. I wish people could take more joy in their jobs, and even if it isn't their ideal job do it in a way that would make their employers proud. In a way, I think the people of this country are very spoiled, and think a new job can always be found around the corner. It really distressing; when you think that they are actually endangering the animals, and frightening them.

| ive been there twice. the first time i went. i was stayed the 1.5 hours it took and watched her (since its behind glass) the 2nd time i was told if be charged double if i wanted to stay and watch her because shell see me and be naughty. they kept her all day. I left very specific instructions... just to trim up paw, butt hair and ears.... DO NOT SHAVE THE NOOOOSEEE! What do you think they did? yep they shaved the nose.... I left instructions with the girl who took Bindi. Then realized she might not be the one cutting her hair so asked who would be doing it. i almost begged her to tell this girl. I didnt trust her so much so I CALLED at the time the girl was scheduled to start work and told her the same thing. she assured me that she would shave it. and when i went to pick her up. it was shaved. the manager was a complete ass. and said that my receipt said puppy trim and thats why it was shaved. well hell, im not the one who put that into the computer and regardless i gave instructions THREE TIMES to basically anyone who would listen. She did not give me a refund. I had to come back with my FATHER (mind you I am in my mid 20s) to get it.

I know its so hard to learn to be assertive without being aggressive. I didnt want to start yelling at her because I knew that would get me nowhere. My dad was able to get the refund AND a free trim (which i never nor will ever collect on lol) Its especially hard to be taken seriously as I look young :-/ I mean i get carded to buy lotto tickets lol ps- just reread what i wrote in your quote. i meant the girl assured me her nose wouldnt be shaved.

| I just had my chihuahuas nails cut there once & they were totally incompetent. The nail clippers were so dull that they were crushing and splitting his nails instead of cutting them!! Then they didn't even file them and he was snagging his nails on my clothes, when I asked them to file them, they didn't even have a file! Not only that, they acted like they didn't even know how to cut the nails and I had to hold my dog so they could cut his nails!! He is only a 4 lb. dog!! What do they do when a large dog comes in?? Do they ask all the owners to hold their own dog?? Now, I groom all my own dogs, I don't trust anyone!!

| I once took Sydney to a Petsmart near our old home and they did fine, but it was just a shave for summer, no specific instructions. After we moved I took Chloe to the one near our new home thinking it would be "the same" ..I asked for a puppy cut , and gave them a picture of what I wanted. Well I came back and her nose was shaved and around her nose was shorter she looked like some kind of weird lion dog cross. I don't know WHAT they did , but it was nothing like the photo. Then they said , "Oh were sorry the girl you gave the photo to didn't give it to us , so we just did a typical puppy cut" Well heck , It wasn't even a puppy cut...no puppy I had ever seen looked that weird ! Why would they shave the middle of her nose and around her face and leave a beard ?? She was like an Amish puppy. I was SOOO MAD ! I will never go back again.

| Hello! I am new here and i got my Yorkie back in August. I am just reading up and trying to get information especially on grooming. What should i look for in a groomer? Any tips on good haircuts for Yorkies? I had him groomed about a month ago and i noticed his nose was shaved. Overall he looked good but i didn't really care for his nose being shaved. Is that typical in yorkie haircuts?
