| ![]() So when I brought London home last week she was kinda smelly. I gave her a bath the next day and also one this past weekend. But its been a day or two and she is stinky again! How do I get rid of her smell? I dont want to over bathe her. Maybe a different shampoo? Spray her with something? I am taking her to the groomer this week for a hair cut....maybe they will have some ideas. What are some good ways to keep her smelling good?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() Where is the smell coming from? She really shouldn't be stinky. Has she been vet checked? Ear mites and other problems can cause stinky ears. Mouth problems can cause stinky breath. Joey only gets 1 bath a week, but he never is stinky.

| ![]() Its not her breath, she does need to have some puppy teeth pulled, but her mouth is fine. Her ears are sparkling clean. Its her coat....she just has a smelly "stinky dog" smell to her. I was really gently when I bathed her, since she is so darn skinny and tiny. So she didnt get a really good scrubbing. But since I have bathed her twice you would think she would smell better. She had this smell when I brought her home....maybe its just taking a while to get the stink out of her coat or something. You know how certain things can kinda linger a while? I dunno....

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() If she is a new puppy, I can't stress the importance of getting her checked out at the vet. Some people do describe their puppies, as having a certain smell, some even describe it as skunk like, but say it's just a puppy smell. I'm just telling you what I have read because this hasn't happened with Joey; he does start smelling a little like Fritos when it gets close to bath time. I don't know if you use a conditioner when you shampoo, but they condition skin as well as hair and smell really good. There are also grooming sprays you can use between shampoos to freshen them up. I still urge you to see a vet if this is a new puppy.

She is new to me. And shes still young, but not a "puppy" per say. Shes 10 months old. I ALWAYS take my new pets to the vet ASAP and we have an appt tomorrow, I was not able to get in to see my vet any sooner. Yorkies are totally a new breed to me, but I do have experience with dogs and animals in general. I am a professional groom (horses) and my mother bred Shepherds for years. I have Parson Russell Terriers and used to be a lot more involved with the breed and our local club. I ask some pretty obvious questions because I dont know if there are certain things that I can do for her coat type, etc.....

| ![]() Could It Be Her Ears? Or She's Rolling Around In Another Animals Poop. I Catch Owen Doing It All The Time, I Could Just Kill Him. When We Go For A Walk If He See Bird Doo-do, He Wants To Rub All Over It. It's Nasty. |

| ![]() Her ears are perfect and we live in a condo so I walk her on a leash to go outside, she has not had a chance to roll in anything yucky!

| ![]() I had the EXACT same problem with Tucker when I got him. Come to find out it was dried in urine in his coat. His previous owners didn't take very good care of him and his coat was soaked with nastiness ![]() ![]()

| ![]() how are her eyes? Are they runny? I figured out that was what was causing Baxter to smell. Switched to distilled water as suggest here and no more problems. (to drink, not bathe in) |
