I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I always recommend the YTCA referral site; there is usually someone close enough that you can visit in person. Visiting in person is the number one thing you can do to prevent buying from someone who mistreats their breeding dogs. Get to know your breeder and watch for signs that they are breeding for profit instead of improving the breed, for example, selling a dog less than 12 weeks is a big no no especially for a toy breed. There are no shortcuts and it’s helpful to read all you can regarding finding a good breeder. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...e-breeder.html Also, be patient, once you’ve found a breeder you like, be prepared to go on a list, many good breeders wait till they have homes lined up before they do a breeding. I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yes, and I found out about the YTCA here at Yorkietalk. I had been looking for a breeder for a couple of years and I was considering several different breeds, but was unhappy with the breeders I interviewed. A yorkietalk member told me about the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America, which is the mother club for the Yorkie. I found my breeder through them and she is everything I expected in a breeder and more. I do want to say, that there are good breeders who aren't members and probably bad breeders who are members, so you still have to know what it takes to make a good breeder. Best of luck!

| Hi, Bianca! I just wanted to wish you the best of luck in finding your new companion. You will...just hang in there. After years of rescue, I've seen how bad many breeders can be, but I've, also, seen some amazing ones. If you have any questions, you're in the right place!
