I always recommend the YTCA referral site; there is usually someone close enough that you can visit in person. Visiting in person is the number one thing you can do to prevent buying from someone who mistreats their breeding dogs. Get to know your breeder and watch for signs that they are breeding for profit instead of improving the breed, for example, selling a dog less than 12 weeks is a big no no especially for a toy breed. There are no shortcuts and it’s helpful to read all you can regarding finding a good breeder.
