I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I guess you're not alone, one person wrote that he wouldn't buy a dog registered with the AKC because the organization had the word "Kennel" in their name. Unfortunately, he believed that APRI, was a respectable registry, but it was actually started by commercial breeders, and stands for American's Pet Registry Inc. Maybe it's a friendlier name, but don't let that fool you, it's free to commercial breeders, and dogs sold in Pet Stores are often registered with them. "Kennel" use to be an extremely respectable word, and only associated with breeders with the most knowledge, sorry to hear the word leaves a bad taste in some people's mouth. So beware of the spin-doctors, who make something sound cute and cozy, like anything with the word "pumpkin" or "pumpkin patch" as well as those who try to sound respectable.

| happy client after reading all of these posts i realize that you cannot believe all you read on the computer. i purchased two dogs from sportsmans kennels and never had a problem . when i went in is was a very nice place much better then other places i have visited. The staff was very helpful and informative , and the puppies were clean and happy. i know a few people who have bought dogs from them also and it was a very enjoyable experience. all i can trully say is the best way to know about them is to go in a see for yourself. |

| Hi. My husband surprised me with a yorkie puppy from Sportsmann Kennel just this past February. As soon as I saw her it was love at first sight, so at that time, I couldn't care less where she came from. However, now after the fact, when I looked into things, I would not purchase a dog from Sportsmann Kennel again. My yorkie girl was not akc registered and was taken away from her mother too soon. I was given the name of the breeder, who was from South Dakota, but there is no web site or any way to see pictures of her parents. My husband was told that she will grow no bigger than 6 pounds. But at 4 1/2 months old, she is already 5 pounds!!! My little girl will probably be a teapot. Anyways, she has been to the vet several times and checks out ok. My vet says she looks great, no health issues of any yet, and is very impressed by her disposition. She is extremely smart, very loving, has no bathroom accidents, and has learned many tricks already. So I consider myself very very lucky. But would not take that chance again!!! |

| All I'm going to say to those that come on defending places like this. Even if you are legite and you say the place is clean, have you thought about where the pups come from or how the parents of the pups are living? A mill is a mill and as long as you support places like this, the greed, and abuse will continue. I guess some have no humanity Elaine |

| I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with Sportman's Kennel. All of my dogs have lived long healthy lives. The first dogs that I purchased there were Sophie a Yorkie and Tess, a Cavalier. They each were amazingly beautiful and lived to 15 and 17, respectively. My Yorkie Carly (pictured) also came from Sportman's Kennel. She will be 11 in June ... and is terrific in every way. All of my friends have gotten dogs from Hellen. My friend Ivy had a chocolate Poodle named Godiva that lived to 18, and in June she bought a black Pug from Sportman's Kennel, named Mabel. My friend Jane had a Dachshund named Lulu and Lulu just passed away at 19 years old!! Jane just got two gorgeous Dachshund from Helen, named Brownie and Cookie. My sister Dara got her Beagle, Eloise at Sportman's Kennel several years ago. Eloise is the cutest Beagle that I have ever seen. I have always found everyone at Sportman's Kennel to be highly professional. The place is very clean, and the puppy are all very well taken care of. Since I have a long history with the place, and have repeated friends and family members getting dogs there, I find this negative review hard to believe. The internet is very dangerous. People can post things like this ... and lies, half truths, and jealous competitors, sound like factual reliable sources. If I didn't have a history with Sportman's Kennel, I might take this at face value ... but because I do, I sincerely question how my experience could be so entirely different. Sportman's Kennel has been in business for over 40 years. Sorry, something just doesn't ring true!! |

| If you google the facility you find nothing but complaints. I would understand one person having a problem...but there are many complaints out there. Do you work for them?

| @ Justin No, I do not work for them ... I work in television. As stated I've had only wonderful experiences, as have numerous people that I know. The place has been in business for like 30 or 40 years. I checked out their BBB rating, and it is excellent. As with any business, I'm sure there are occasional dissatisfied customers. And that is who usually posts things. It's rare that people like me decide to post our experiences. I'm not sure why the photo of my dog Carly has not appeared on my profile ... because you could see how beautiful my Sportsman's Kennel baby is. |

I am surprised that you work in TV and are so far behind the actual times... Educate yourself and do a Google Search for: Puppy Mills Because that is what you and people who buy from S Kennels are supporting. Your hard earned money that most people earn pay check to pay check are supporting the abuse and neglect that takes place in Puppy Mills... | |
