| yeah my fletch is about 8.5lbs and my dex is about 5lbs... so it would be a tight squeeze I guess.... what do you think? It looks like a REALLY nice carrier though! I really like it!!! Thanks for all the pics!!! Your dogs are just adorable!!!

Donating YT 11K Club Member | Thanks! Hmmm im not sure if they would be comfortable together in it. Do they like being enclosed in carriers? If they do and like to cuddle then maybe. That is like 13.5 lbs together, so it might work.

| It is either Midwest or Northwest that you are allowed to take two dogs with you. I had to fly with 2 dogs, one is a yorkie and one is a pitbull last year when I went home to WI for Christmas. One dog can fly on the plane with you under the seat and the orher dog had to fly in cargo, but they do allow you to take 2 pets. |

| Frustrating I agree that this is frustrating. The high fees that the airlines charge to put your pet under the seat is frustrating also. We have decided not to take our pets to Wisconsin next week when we go because I can't guarantee that I can get both home with my husband when I fly to another state for a few days. Your only options are to find a person who is flying to the same destination on the same day and is willing to help, take only one with you, leave them both at home, or drive. None of these are very good options. I have also found that while some airline employees are pet friendly, there are many who are not, and some even interpret the FAA rules differently than the they are written. Good luck. |

| Pet Travel bags We have tried a variety of pet travel bags for use on airlines. We now use the ones that you pull behind you that are on wheels. The dogs seem to feel more secure in thoses, and they fit very nicely under the seat. Our Yorkies are small enough to fit in one together with room to spare, but the airlines require that they be in separate containers. Hotels are getting wise to the demand for people to travel with their pets, but I don't understand why the airlines make travel so difficult. |

| Yeah I don't understand whats up with the age restriction. I can SEE a weight restriction, but AGE? Who cares if they are 6 months or 5 years? As long as they are under 15lbs and fit in the same carrier? Thats my take on it. I was told by a bunch of people that I wouldnt have a problem taking them both as long as I disclose that I am brining 2 dogs with me and pay the $$. So I booked it. My dogs weighed about 13lbs together, but the other day I weighed them and they are 15lbs together. That is the weight limit including a carrier. I think my dogs are a BIT chubby. I put them on royal canin dog food and free feed them, so I need to stop doing that bc they have both gained OVER a lb in the last month and a half. Anyways, northwest airlines lets you take 2 dogs in the plane with you if they are under 15lbs .. but it is your only carryon. I just bought a big purse to take bc you can technically have 2 carryons if one is a bag and the other a purse or laptop case or briefcase or something like that. So I booked my dogs and told the airline they were under 6 months, I need to get a health certificate, but I guess the airline does not care about those, its more the state you are traveling to that does so you get in case. That will have their age on it, but I was told the airline more than likely won't check your bags weight or look at the health certs. As long as you paid the fee. I also bought myself a refundable ticket in case they turn me away I can get the money back for my flight to be cancelled. I am just hoping and praying at this point that everything just goes smoothly. I'll let you know when I get back but Im not going until Dec - Jan. Good Luck!

| Sneaking dogs on board-- consider a private home boarder instead I just read posts in this thread and am a bit surprised that in this day you would consider sneaking anything on a plane-- no less live animals. We traveled to Chicago with our cat a few years ago-- long before 911-- and they made me take the cat out of the crate. I was so afraid to do it because he was a very nasty cat and we had to sedate him for the trip, but. I didnt know if it would really have any effect on him. The security person took him herself and checked his belly-- I had visions of claws, scratches, blood and a wild cat loose in the airport. A trick of drug trafficers is to operate and fill the abdomen cavity with drugs. All went well, but my heart was bounding. Post 911, I would not dream of trying to take anything on board that I was not allowed. Also, consider what you would do if they did discover your extra dog -- coming or going-- how would you travel? I recommend finding someone like me-- who has a private home boarding business. I have two little yorkies myself and would never consider putting them in a kennel, I board them with a lady who does provate home boarding. Interview and visit a home boarder long before you travel. You could even leave your dogs overnight a time or two as a test run. Take a look at my website to see the kind of things you should look for-- http://www.doggienanny.com You can find private home boarders through your vet. They usually have a list on hand. We home boarders love dogs and spend lots of time with them. I think some of them get much more attention with me than they get in their own homes! One thing to consider is the size of dogs a home boarder caters to. Good luck. Linda the doggie nanny |

| I hope all works out for you, I think you best bey is american Airlines I also have two yorkies and never had a problem with AA. I did have to carry them through security, mine weigh 3lbs and mom is 4lbs. Just be honest and don't try and sneak them in because that will proably backfire. Good luck |

| Since I just got back from my first plane trip with Teddi I thought I would let everyone know that I booked her flight ahead of time but you can't pay until you get to the airport and I went to the counter and told them I had a dog and paid. They did not weigh anything...they did not even look in the bag. When you go through security you have to take them out but they don't car about anything either. On the plane I don't think anyone even knew she was with me. I kept her in her carrier under the seat the whole time on all 4 planes but they didn't even look at her ticket or anything (although I would have been stressed out if I didn't buy a ticket). I did not get a health certificate but I did bring her shot records but no one asked for anything. I flew US Airways. I have heard that sometimes United lets you take them out of the carrier. And for those of you that are worried about your dog making noise when flying, I was worried about that too but she only made a few little noises while we were sitting there but once we too off she was completely quiet. I think it is actually calming to her, like riding in the car, and she just fell right to sleep.
