| ![]() Hi All! My job has transferred me from Boston to South Carolina and i will be bringing my 5 yr old yorkie with me on the flight for the fist time. I am SOOOO nervous! He has had some health issues (tracheal stent implanted) and I am worried stress will aggravate his cough. My vet said he will be fine and will give him a sedative before the flight. Any advice? Suggestions? recommendations? hints? Thanks so much! |

| ![]() He'll be just fine, don't worry, at our first flight, I took the sedative instead of my Yorkies and that worked like a charm Maria |

Cooper had his first flight last year from New Orleans to Florida. After much debate I gave Cooper a mild sedative. It was a very successful flight for us. What airline are you taking?

Yorkie Yakker | ![]() We just flew from Newyork to Miami on Sunday with Isabella, we are still here. She got a little fussy when we first got on the plane and then as soon as we took off, she fell asleep and slept for the 3 hours, we didn't give her any sedatives, I think it was the sound of the engine. I am hoping she will do just as well on the trip back home. Good Luck on your trip, hope she sleeps for you, and I was the one who took the sedative, works wonders ![]()

| ![]() Zipp, then Spike when I rescued/adopted him, was fine on our flight from Columbus OH to Atlanta then to Melbourne FL. No sedative. Total fly time was 3-4 hours. The old boy (15) had a restless moment or two probably b/c of me fussing. The airport shop owners and flight attendents were just great. What airline are you using. Be prepared for a "sticker shock". Delta was $100 each way. Airtran and Southwest are around $70. Make sure the kennel will be w/in size limits for all the aircraft you will be flying on. I discovered that one size does not meet all the airlines b/c of the type of aircraft being used. Still bugs me, a squally munchkin flys free while my pup, who was quiet, was $100, and had to be shoved under the seat in front of me. But,, some of the best $$ I ever spent in getting the "old boy".

| ![]() I do not know about US Air. Only Southwest, AirTran and Delta. We took DJ from Orlando to Cincy and back for JB's 60th July 07 and Zipp this past Feb.

| ![]() ditto on the sedative for mommy. I was lucky because it was Southwest's Birthday ... free drinks! Kasha was bratty/devious on our flight from Fla to Ny (and back too!) but in retrospect, she was MUCH better than the screaming toddler behind me.
