| Service Dog ID card - dont forget to bring one The Department of Transportation lists identification cards at the top of their list and only verbal assurance is at the bottom. Many owners of service dogs have reported that the airlines have required some sort of identification even though by law they are not allowed to do this. Please understand that you are NOT required by law to carry one of these cards, however, they can dramatically speed up your process of getting through airport security, etc. without arguments or confrontations. I got my mom's service dog id tag and small vest at Working Service Dog - Working Dog and Service Dog Supplies Home the first time she traveled she had a hard time at the check in counter - they want to see something... Next time she traveled she just handed them the card and sailed right thru. BTW - she is traveling with a yorkie as well. |

| I work for a very well known transportation company. The reason they ask the service the animal provides is to let them know if you are trying to bring a pet on board. Believe me .. I am in 100% support of service animals , but a lot of people try to use it to bring a pet or escape a fee. I am sure you are legit , but transportation has seen to many pets that actually destroy equipment or cause a disruption. It is sad that people with true service animals have to be treated this way because there are so many scammers out there.
