Oh geez just seeing this. I am incredibly sorry to hear the news, but it sounds like things are looking positive. I'll be thinking of you and checking in!

So very sorry you got a positive result. Hoping you will only need the lumpectomy. Wishing you a full and quick recovery.

Jeanie, I'm sorry you have to join this club. I had my bc surgery 14 yrs ago this June 15. I had lumpectomy with no rads (my choice). I wish you all the best. I know that you want this out ASAP but I learned that bc is not an emergency. Learn all you can about the type and grade of your bc. The more you know the better choices you can make for yourself.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been through this but made it 15 years in June! Way to go! And thanks for your best wishes!

Since the bad area is currently confined to the one area or so the pathologist thinks, I was sort of thinking it could spread in a few more days or weeks perhaps if it's not removed. Who knows whether a stray cell is out there now floating in the bloodstream ready to take hold in a lymph gland and replicate? That's what I'm worried about. I am thinking about getting a second opinion but wonder if some spreading of bad cells might not happen within the time it would take to do that.

Do you mind my asking if your doctor recommended radiation or gave you a choice?

Yes, my dr recommended radiation and I visited the radiology dr. They were not happy that I did not do "the gold standard" but it was my decision - my body. Years later another dr told me that my type of bc was often over treated and she said I made a good decision. My type of bc was DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ).

Jeanie,

Sheila had a positve biopsy, when she was just 22-the cancer was contained, and they were able to remove it all.

We are praying very hard, it will be the same for you.

Well, from the way it turned out, you made a good decision! I'm hoping mine will turn out to be just as simple to treat. I can barely take medication w/out getting sick or high or something so the idea of chemo and all the drugs one has to take to go with it really scares me. I'm so glad it sounds like I won't need that much treatment!

It's wonderful stories like Sheila's and yours that keep me positive and feeling braver than I thought I ever could feel. I'm sorry the both of you had to deal with that awful disease but it sounds as if she made it through okay! Thank you very much for your prayers and I always pray for Sheila since I saw Ann's thread. Prayer has gotten us all through a great deal.

I'm going to try and stay positive and strong! With all the good stories of people who have been there and beat this disease, I'm very encouraged. Thank you sooooo much for the prayers. It means so much to me.
