| If you are able to type after the strokes, no doubt they gave you the "magic" drug if it was necessary, you are on blood thinner and BP control and breathing ok. I have known several people, women especially, 2 friends and many of our clinic patients, who had mini-strokes as younger women, to go on and rehab from any minor damage, get treatment for the condition causing the strokes if it's not cardiovascular related but even when it is, they stay on their meds and live to be old women - so old they are having 2nd hip replacements and heart surgeries. I know you are so scared but likely this is your body warning something is wrong, they will find out what's wrong and fix you up. Try not to be afraid and remember how many people go through this and come out to live very long, normal lives. We are all praying for you and hoping the doctors will find out what is causing this very soon.

If she is in a such a hospital now, all the better. Stay with her, keep the nurses on their toes and advocate for her all that you can. It sounds like she has had the type of bleed that is limited and they feel they have it controlled and she should be fine if her caregivers are knowledgeable. Thank you for being there and helping your mom, Jason. P. S. Tell her we are all praying hard for her complete recovery and home soon.

They said she's had 4 CVA's and then said in other words, 4 strokes! She said she was sitting on the floor, taking photos of Yazmin, and all of a sudden she was dizzy, could not see, and was weak. She crawled to the phone to dial 911. She was taken to a closer hospital where she had been throwing up for hours along with a severe ongoing headache. After a few test were taken, they said they could see that she had at least one stroke so they transferred her to another hospital who could do more test. She also remember's experiencing similar symptoms on 2 other occasions within this past week but since the 1st. lasted approx. 1 hr., she only struggled to get in her bed because she didn't know what was happening and felt too weak to get dressed and go to the hospital. The 2nd. time, she says it only lasted a few minutes so she did not take it serious, she said she thought it was her reading glasses that had caused her headaches each time! I am very concerned their not taking her condition seriousness enough at this time.

I'm not a doctor, but highly unlikely that CVAs would be put off until a neurologist could evaluate. Still sounds like TIAs. Praying all is well in the end.

| Wow, I have no advice on the medical question, but wanted to again say I'm praying for you. Also Jason, I am so glad you are with your mother. You have to be her advocate, continue to ask questions until you are satisfied and comfortable with the answers! Please remember to also try to keep mom as calm as possible and assure her that you are handling everything and that she doesn't need to worry, but instead rest and focus on getting better.

| If you are worried, ask for a second opinion and get them to get a neurologist down there to see your mother tonight for goodness sake if she's had 4 CVA's and hasn't seen one yet. Ask to see the Head of Neurology or anything.

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | I found that now a days you have to have a family member at the hospital staying on top of things. Most hospitals are understaffed and if you don't have someone that can speak up for you it can be scary. Hopefully she is still in ICU and will be monitored closely. I will keep your Mom in my prayers.

| You might see if Patient Relations could advocate for you if you are truly worried. They are there to act as a liaison between patients and their families and staff where issues arise that aren't being resolved satisfactorily for the patients.

| What hospital are you at?? Akron General Medical Hospital was rated as one of the top 10 hospitals in the nation. I am having an issue with your mother having to wait to see the neurologist tomorrow...."if she has another clot, they will call him at home"....WHAT IS THAT????? Your mother needs to have access to immediate attention from qualified people.....if you are NOT at Akron General, I think I would get her moved there immediately. Do they have a "STROKE TEAM" there where you are??? She needs to be under the care of a designated stroke team.... |
