Sending you much love and hugs from us both. |
Keeping you both in my prayers... There was a man in Baltimore a few years ago that had stage 4 Lung cancer... he went into a clinical trial and the cancer went into remission. I'm searching for the article and will post it as soon as I find it. The docs made some kind of treatment using the man's own cells so it was very targeted for his disease.... |

Thanks all. I am getting very frustrated. It is 6:00 pm here and we have not heard from anyone at the cancer center. Ken is scheduled for radiation marking tomorrow, but the radiologist said it would depend on what the roundtable came up with. So here we are another day no treatment plan. Kathy, I am beginning to think we may have to go to one of the bigger cancer hospitals like in Boston or Houston. I really appreciate you looking up that case. It really is up to the person/family to find the best treatment as I am finding. If I hear anything tonight I will post. |

Patti, I am frustrated for you and Ken. I clerked in hospitals for several years and you are correct, too much is left to family members. Stay on the doctors and push hard. |
Patti, Keeping you and Ken in our prayers. Please keep on the doctors for answers. As good as they may be, it is always up to the patient and their families and advocates to keep the momentum going. Hang in their and hopefully you will get some definitive answers. Hugs to you and Ken. |
From everything I've heard the larger, more well-known cancer centers are the most familiar with the latest techniques due to their larger concentration of high-quality staff doctors and researchers, see a larger variety of cancer and are the most-scrutinized. It would be worth looking into one of those larger centers near you. You both are in my daily prayers. |
I really do not know, but I am impressed with this place (or at least their commercials) They have a site in Zion, IL... (don't know if that's close to you or not): Cancer Treatment Centers of America Hospital and Clinic Locations |
Patti am praying you have heard from someone and things are going much better there for Ken on getting started with the treatments. Ken is so very very Blessed that he has you right there as his advocate, this is so needed. It can not be stressed enough that anyone ill should have an advocate overseeing their care, many don't realize this. Keeping you and Ken in constant prayers, Patti I am especially asking the Lord to give you the strength and HIS guideance as you seek the best treatment and Physicians for Ken, and this for Ken too. Please take care of yourself. Sending a big hug to you and much love from us both. Patti and Jack |
Thanks so much. We finally heard back from the nurse oncologist after I left a message earlier. They are going to do 13 treatments of radiation. If after a week he hasn't gotten some relief with his breathing they will start chemo. If it does they will wait until the radiation is over and start the other type of chemo that is easier on Ken and as effective. I am continuing to look at options but right now we need to get treatment started here so her can get some relief. |
My Prayers are with you and Ken that the treatments help. |
Praying that the treatment gives Ken some relief. Your whole family is so lucky to have you. |
Patti, I'm happy to hear there is a plan in place now. Finally Ken can get started with the *fight*, and this will be valuable even if another option is taken later. Every case is a little different, and I'm sure the doctors are all doing their best to evaluate Ken's whole case, and prioritize treatment forms according to effectiveness in different areas. More of these for you::hug::hug::hug: and :hands::hands::hands: |
Saying prayers for your hubby! I know how it is. My husband was a smoker and quit, but I've caught him sneaking a few here lately. I try not to nag on him, but I wish he would stay quit. |
Patti, still sending prayers for you and Ken and your family. I am happy that treatment is going to be starting. Hoping that Ken begins to get some relief. |
Thanks for all the support and the pm's that have really helped. Ken had his "Tattoo's" for radiation today. They marked the right side of his chest and near his armpit on both the right and left side. I guess they are targeting the lymph nodes on both sides as well. He goes tomorrow for his run through and first treatment. They also put him on prednisone to help his breathing for now. They said the radiation should start making a difference after a few treatments. I am glad we finally are fighting this! |
Patti, if will get easier. But ..having been there ..in fact still there ..you need help! I did not find help for a while and it makes me mad that it is hard to find. Please ask your family to help, find support groups. What saved Alan is a friend of mine who is a nurse, she taught me how to get assertive. This is not the time to be sweet patti, you are the one who is fighting for your dh.. |

Thanks. It's so hard to explain to non YT members what a caring and wonderful community it is. I know 100% that I am getting through this with all of your support and prayers. When I am feeling down I come on here and my spirits are lifted. |

Yay, radiation and prednisone! The prednisone should make his lungs feel some better and make it easier to breathe. I've got to agree with Shinja, we've got to speak up and not worry about being pleasant. (Sometimes we girls are too polite.) You're doing such a great job of staying on top of this and checking into info yourself! What a great team the two of you are! |
Patti, just wanted to quickly let you know that I am praying for Ken as he begins his treatments today. |
Sending prayers and hugs |
Prayers going to you both as Ken starts treatment today. Give him my best. |
Sending prayers and healing thoughts. May the targets be true and the radiation dissolve the tumors and may the prednisone ease his discomfort. May healing light shine down on Ken and you to strengthen you both. Best wishes. |
Patti just checking in to see how Ken did today? Prayers still going out. |
Thanks. Ken had his first treatment today and it went well. We are hoping the steroids and the radiation start to help with his breathing. I feel like we are finally fighting the cancer. I will keep you posted. |
