| I came in for an update and glad to see them regarding both our patients. Mary...it is shocking that you were sent home so soon after your surgery, but on the other hand, it doesn't surprise me. They send people home way to soon these days. it's so sad. Your pain would have been much better controlled in the hospital. I hope and pray pain free days are soon ahead of you! I laughed at your story of getting the kids ready for school at 8 PM. That is something you will laugh about for years to come. Thank you Carol, for the update on Claire and I am so glad her pain has lessened some. She has had such a rough road it just breaks my heart. I'm glad you played nurse and gave her a lift by visiting. Is she up to phone call yet? She must be so terribly weak...poor Claire. I hope she is back home soon and can enjoy some sunshine and be back with April. I've thought of April too...it's a long time she's been without her Mommy. Can't wait till they are back together again!

| Claire seems to be doing better. She took a couple of walks in the hallway yesterday. Instead of clear liquids, she is on liquids which she is happy about. She did have a little heartburn from the change, but is happy to be able to eat/drink something different. She had a blood transfusion and of course that made her feel better also. The cat scan she had Monday night came out good. Things are on the up swing. She wanted me to be sure to thank all of you for thinking of her and she loves all of you. Your prayers and good wishes are being heard. Thank you so much friends.I am so pleased that Mary is doing better as well. Prayers and well wishes are helping her I'm sure. I bet she can't wait until she is feeling 100% better.

| Sorry, it's early here. Claire didn't have a transfusion. She was given a bag of blood.

It is a very good sign that her surgeon is watching her very closely and monitoring her blood volume. The scan that she had was probably a barium swallow to check to make sure there were no leaks in the resection. This is a GREAT sign that the surgery was successful if they gave her the On the upside now that she had the swallow test she will be able to eat real food ![]() I didn't mean to hijack Claire's thread but felt that I could explain some of the things that everyone is so concerned about with her recovery. I'm pretty much a walking surgical experiment as well as working in the profession and I hate to see when others are confused. Please let her know that there is no need to rush going home if her pain is not controlled. Last year after I fell and broke my arm the Ortho tried to send me home same day but I ended up staying for 4 days because my pain was not under control. There is no reason for a patient not to speak up if they are not well enough to leave and pain cannot be controlled with oral medication. I insisted and they took me seriously as I am not a cry baby by any means. If there is something that doesn't make sense please just ask. I have a LOT of personal experiences with all kinds of different surgeries~including a spay

Wow, what a wealth of knowledge you are, what a great post, I learned so much, I always thought a bag of blood was different from a transfusion too. I've been worried about Claire for a long time, it seemed like for so long they didn't even know what was causing the pain, and she's had lung/breathing problems as well. Surgery is always hard on the lungs, and I know she's felt so scared and helpless for such a long time. I'm so happy she's finally getting some relief. I pray for her continued healing.

| Hi Everyone, It looks like Friday is Claire' discharge date. She is so glad about that. She said she has more discomfort now than pain. She had a visit from April [her pup] tonight and she seems so much happier. These sweeties truly do make a huge difference in our lives. Again, she wanted me to thank of all you for hanging in there with her. She knows she is never really alone. What a wonderful group of people here on YT.

| Oh, my goodness....I am just reading this. Sounds as if Claire has been put through the ringer...so to speak. Megansmomma, your post was very informative. I did not know what had put Claire in the hospital. Sound very serious. Prayers and get-well wishes to Claire. ~Joanne~

| Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | Oh Carol I am soooooooooooo HAPPY to hear Claire was to go home today, thank you so much for keeping us all updated. I pray she will continue gaining strength quickly, being home is going to tremendously help her do that. I know the family and little April are sleeping more comfortable tonight with Claire being home. Thank the Lord for providing the wonderful Dr.'s and nursing that overseen her care and getting her through such a serious surgery. Claire you are loved by so many, we continually are keeping you in prayer to be all well with you and April out and about soon enjoying those outings with Carol and Calleigh. Look forward to when you can be back posting with all your friends here at Yorkie Talk, we've missed you so much. Mary hope you too are feeling much better from the surgery you went through, and be back to doing all you love to do too real soon. Love and Hugs, Patti and Jack and girls. |
