				   | I had an amazing conversation with Rose's mom today. A few days ago, the nurses that had treated Rose told her parents that when the surgeon walked out of Rose's surgery last month - he said "She has a 2% chance of making it." So everything is really a miracle!! The odds were against her to even be alive & it is a miracle that she is not in a vegetative state. See how powerful prayer is! Thank you all for praying for this dear little girl. She was born with this in her brain - but the surgeon believes he got it all. She will have her next CAT scan in a week or so. Rose is sad about the absence of her hair -- as I said before it was down to her little bottom. So having just stubble is hard for her. She has 30 staples in her head - in a great big C and then also some sutures. She has made more progress in the past few days. Rose finally gets to eat at least soft foods — including her favorite Mac and Cheese! She can't eat quite anything she wants, though as she is still on feeding tube. She still struggles with thin liquids. She is also having trouble talking - so it is hard to start on her speech therapy. Rose will see an ENT specialist this week to look at her throat. It sounds like there is a great deal of scarring due to the fact that she was intubated for 9 days She has been very busy at therapy center where she is currently living. She really wants to go home - but it will likely be at least another month. She usually spends a bit of each evening in the gym so she can smack a beach ball or other ball around the gym. One of her favorite things to do is have family and friends throw a ball to her so she can smack it back — her parents think volleyball may be in her future

				   | Rose had a scare and had to have a CAT scan sooner than expected because she complained of some double vision issues today. She went by ambulance back to the hospital. The CAT scan showed no problems or recurring bleeding. The doctor think the double vision is likely a result of the original bleed. But Rose needs to get to an eye doctor to get started right away with some therapy to re-train her eyes to look left more consistently and accurately. So please keep her in your prayers. In other areas, things are going well. Rose is now eating solid foods, though she will keep the feeding tube until she can drink water without aspirating. Her parents have tried to come back to work. Well one at work & one with Rose. I'm not sure how long they will be able to switch back and forth. They have 2 very different jobs - we all work for the same big company. Earlier this week the family got to all take a dip in the swimming pool at the therapy center. The water is kept around 90 degrees. They had a wonderful time.

				   | Rose got a very special Valentines treat -- her mom was able take her from the physical therapy center where she is staying & take her to school on Friday for a bit for her class' Valentine's Party Rose was anxious about the trip because of the big scar on her head & the lack of hair - so she wore a hat & I hope was able to relax once she got there and saw how thrilled everyone was to see her. After the party they took her home for a short time so she got to see her animals. It was very hard for her to leave and go back to the therapy center -- I can't imagine how much this little one wants to be home. Also, on Thursday she had an ENT appointment. The doctor was pleased and said Rose's vocal folds are fine, so she should start working on some more intensive swallowing and vocal therapy.

				   | Rose continued to improve this last week!! ![]() They worked hard on getting rid of the feeding tube, and part of it she had to show she could get enough calories in and not aspirate on the liquids. Well on Tuesday afternoon she had the tube out! On Wednesday Rose somehow got a gash on her foot during pool time - I don't understand how as this is a therapy center for some very ill children. She didn't get stitches because the location of the gash just wouldn't allow it. But it's certainly slowed her down. So please pray this heals quickly. Her speech/vocal therapy is going extremely well Physical therapy is going well, so she's graduated to just one PT session a day. The current plan has her going home at the end of this coming week. So sooner than they thought a week ago!! Praise God! She will get to return quickly to school, though she will need an associate to help her navigate activities and make sure she's able to do her school work. She also has to wear a helmet to protect her head at least until she has completely healed.

				   | Janie, Thank you for your prayers. Yes, Rose's life is truly a miracle. For the surgeon to say only a 2% chance she will live and for her to instead to progress so quickly is astonishing. Praise be to God for His mighty works in this young girl's life.
