| Please Remember My Parents Due To The Heat... Ladies please remember my Father today as the heat and humidity is going to be over 122 degrees here in our towns, he goes to Bloomington on the square to the Farmers Market to sell his Veggies that they homegrow...Mom doesn't go with him on Tue or Thur...She goes sometimes goes on Sat if my BIL doesn't go. Dad is 78.5 and not in good health at all...Mom is 70 so I called them last night to tell them it was going to be bad with the heat and humidity...I told her to tell Dad to take a fan with him to help cool him off, she said there was a man up there that checks on the older people and they even hand out water if the heat is high. She said the market wasn't far from the hospital if something was to happen. He has Emphysema and it's hard for him to breath in this heat but he goes on and does it all...They have acres of veggie that they plant and harvest all by hand so this is hard to do...Right now the humidity there in Bloomington is 93% so please pray for him...It's raining here in my town now but not Bloomington...They are sunny there. But they love it and I guess it keep them going. Hugs to all, Lee |

| I'll sure keep your dad in my prayers. The heat and humidity here as been horrible. We've had terrible lightening storms all night long. Still raining here in Frankfort. I'm glad there is someone who is looking out for the older ones at the market.

| I will be thinking of your dad. Does he have a cell phone with him so that people can call him to remind him to drink a lot of water to keep hydrated? Also it will ease your mind to be able to talk to him.

| Prayer's coming for your Mom and Dad. What hard work that is at their age. I hope he remember's to keep drinking lot's of water and do his best to stay in the shade. Our senior's are such hard working people and take such pride in what they do. Those fresh veggies sound wonderful. I do belive hard work keeps us going but in such extreme heat it's so important to not over do it. Best wishes for them and I hope the season is prosperous as well. |

| Lee, did your father survive the heat okay? Sorry I didn't see this thread yesterday. I know you worry about him in this heat, but on the other hand I guess you can be happy that your parents are doing something they love and enjoy. Probably is keeping them young and living. We do worry about our parents when they age, don't we. The shoe is now on the other foot, aye? Hugs. Joanne

| I hope your dad is doing ok. You might check into one of these thingys for him....I have a friend who bought one at the street fair here and it works really great; I'm going to get one for the dogs....I bet it would make your dad more comfortable too~Amazon.com has them for around $12 each too...this link will take you to the company's site where there's other personal misting systems too....more expensive, but I'm sure well worth it! https://www.mistymate.com/shop/compo...mart/Itemid,26

| I am sorry about your Dad. Sometimes, they are so stubborn and work too hard. My Dad has emphysema also, so I know how hard that must be for your Dad to do in that heat/humidity. Bless his heart. He needs to take a little cooler with a lot of ice and some water in it and a wash cloth and keep putting it on his face, neck and arms.

| Bless his heart. They sound exactly like the way my grandparents were. Prayers are going out to him. I sure hope he will be ok and has lots of shade and lots of cool water to drink. |

| Thanks to each of you for your prayers for my parents...Dad made it okay in the heat...I know it was hard for him and yes he is very stubborn and loves doing what he does...We've begged and pleaed with them to just put a garden out back of thier house and they won't...They will do this I think in their wheel chairs I tell them all the time you think kids is hard to raise, try raising parents...They worry you to death...Although they think they are in their 30s (If you ask them their age this is what they both tell you) Mom say he don't work up there he gossips there, and knows all the talk about everyone there...But she is teasing, he does have a tent he takes with him and water and cooler and he loves it...I never thought about telling him to take a wash cloth with him... He got to the market and opened the back of his camper shell to his truck to get his tent out well there was their old outside cat in there sleeping, so he got her out and put her in the front of the truck and rolled the windows down a little for her...He went to go get his money box...(Tackle box is what he uses ) And that cat had locked both his doors with the keys inside of it...He was so mad he said...He had to go get someone to help open his doors...So now he said he makes sure his truck is without that silly cat of theirs... He has stories to tell from his fun at the market. Please keep praying for them both as they do pick veggies on and off all week long...And the heat is hard on them. Hugs Lee |
