 still praying for Michelle |

Update on Michelle....... Finally some good news.......Michelle is home!:D Michelle was released from Tomball Hospital on Saturday at 6 p.m. She was still not feeling very well. While in Tomball Hospital they had drained the fluids from her lung and got her left lung reinflated. Her diverticulitis is slowly improving. They also sent her home with a pic line which Michelle was not happy about. Anyway, Saturday around midnight David took Michelle back to Ben Taub hospital. On Sunday Michelle saw her head doctor and he had a lung doctor and stomach doctor check out Michelle and the head doctor adjusted the shunt in Michelle's head. The doctor told Michelle everything looked good but she was just going to be sore for awhile and it would just take time to heal. They removed the pic line and sent her home. I am praying Michelle will not have anymore setbacks and that she will start seeing some improvements. Her head is still swollen so the doctor will continue to adjust the shunt until the fluids in her head are at the right level. Thank you all so much for your continued prayers and well wishes. Hugs to all. |

I'm so sorry... This is my first post on this site. I just finished reading the entire thread, and I am just so sorry for all that your daughter and the rest of your (and her) family is going through. Sadly, I understand what you are going through all to well. The week that the hurricane hit your area, I was called to New Orleans because my brother was admitted to the emergency room. He was diagnosed that week with End Stage Liver Disease. The next few months were a flurry of visiting with team after team discussing how best to get him a new liver. I wanted to be his living donor, but they do not do living donor transplants in New Orleans. Watching him suffer those few months was terrible. He had always been so proud, and having to have his family care for him 24 hours a day was humiliating to him. He was finally admitted to ICU, where he spent a month in an induced coma fighting a terrible build up of fluid. As with your daughter, his excessive fluid build up was rare, and the doctors were struggling to find a way to help him. He eventually had massive strokes from swelling on his brain. I had to give permission to remove life support, and I was with him when he took his last breath on December 3, 2008, the saddest day of my life. I pray that your daughter's doctors will be able to find a way to help her. Miracles happen every day. Your daughter sounds like a very, very strong person with a very, very strong will to make it through this. That attitude goes a long way, and it might just carry her through this long enough for the doctors to find a way to help her. I pray for that outcome. I don't ever want anyone to have to feel like I felt on December 3rd, and still feel today. Letting him go was easier than living every day questioning myself and wondering if there was something else I could have done for him. I did want to tell you that I filed his emergency disability with Social Security, and they promised him a check within a month. He did not live long enough to see that check, but sure enough, he was quickly approved and the check would have been cut within three weeks of filing his disability. I hope things go as quickly for your daughter. I did keep calling about once a week to make sure that they did not need anything else to make a ruling on his disability. I don't know if things work that quickly with the Medicaid or not, but I hope they do in your case. So many people don't understand how horrible the financial burdens of being sick and not being able to go to your job can be. It's almost as frightening as the illness itself. Again, I will pray daily for your daughters recovery and I will pray that God will give the doctors the knowledge that they need to be able to help her through this. With young children, she has so much to live for, and I'm sure that her determination to get through all of this suffering is more for them than it is for herself. I pray that she makes it through and can enjoy life again very soon. I'm so sorry that you are going through this. I know the pain for you is unbearable. Debbie |

Praying the Medicare comes through for Michelle. |

Poor Michelle, she just can't seem to make much headway. Today her head is really swollen again and she has a bad headache and nausea. Her head and neck are really uncomfortable from the swelling. I told her she needs to go back to the doctor tomorrow if it is not any better. She is still having stomach problems too. I greatly appreciate everyone's continued prayers. |

Wow, I am so sorry for Michelle. Is she feeling better today? I am praying she does. Does she have a Caringbridge site? Not that I need to go there since you are so good at sharing here about her. But I know so many people who have benefited from that great site & being able to keep loads of people updated at once & giving everyone a place to leave their thoughts & prayers for the one battling. |
