I can't believe that Michelle has been fighting this for almost a year! I pray that, with this surgery, she is relieved of her pain.
Not eating for a month!?! Hey, when she is out of the hospital & back to the art of living...I promise...I will send her out to dinner! That girl needs a good steak!

Thank you. Michelle was crying the other day, saying she would give anything to be able to eat a steak and a real meal.

Michelle is still in surgery. This will be a difficult surgery for her. The doctors will have to remove more of her skull to get to the part where the leak is. The doctor told David that Michelle's body was rejecting the shunt drain in her abdomen and that is what cause the big abscess there. I guess the doctors felt that they had no other choices but to do this surgery. I just pray Michelle heals fast and is able to get back to her family and living a normal life. She has suffered enough. Hugs to all and thanks for your continues prayers.

Michelle has been out of surgery for a couple of hours. David talked to the doctor and the doctor told him the surgery went well but he said there is still just a 50/50 chance the surgery will work. The doctor won't know anything for several more days. David really figures it will be Monday before they know for sure. The doctor felt he did a good job. He had to remove more skull to get to the tear and he made the patch beyond the tear so hopefully it will work. All we can do is pray now. Thank you all for your prayers.

I am so hoping and praying this surgery works for Michelle. She is a fighter and will get through this.

Just checking in but I know she is still in ICU. If life as some feel is all about how we handle the bad times, you Michelle and David will certainly have earned your wings.

Joan, I meant to update earlier, thanks for the reminder. We do have a little good news. The doctor moved Michelle out of ICU yesterday and to a room where she is still closely monitored. The doctor is amazed at how strong Michelle is. I talked to Michelle briefly this morning. She said she was in a lot of pain. She said this surgery is as painful as her first surgery when they removed part of the tumor. Of course, since they had to remove more of her skull this time it is to be expected. She is heavily sedated right now. It will probably be next week before we really know if the surgery was a success. I pray it is because I just don't know what else the doctors can do.

That is such a good sign that she is out of ICU already.:)

:cry: More bad news. Michelle just found out she has spinal meningitis and in the morning she will have another surgery. The doctors will remove the shunt that is in her head and the lines. I just don't know what will happen after that. We don't know what type of bacteria it is, there are several types, some are more serious than others. The doctors suspect she has had this for awhile but just now detected it. David will find out more in the morning when he talks to the doctor. So sad. I pray it has not caused permanent damage. Please pray for Michelle.

That poor dear girl and family, what more can anyone endure. God please help this family in their time of need.
