| hey guys, i have not been posting here much, because it has changed alot, but i will say that there needs to be some changes here. "staying within the rules" doesn't mean that it makes someones comments okay and acceptable to everyone. i have been reading alot and not posting much, and with my reading there are so many things that i thought were grounds for suspension, for to me they were "personal attacks" why this person was not suspended idk, but i am begining to realize how this place works.i don't think that i will use the ignore feature only because i already used my own ignore feature in my mind wich so far only contains 2 members.been doing good so far

| There are actually many definitions of the internet form of "troll". I have discovered that there is actually a science of studying the "workings" of these forums and human nature. It is very interesting to analyze what has happened in this case. Here is a citation from Wikpedia which I think is right on about the phenomenon and what happens here: Often, a person will post a sincere message about which they are emotionally sensitive. Skillful trolls know that an easy way to upset them is to disingenuously claim that the person is a "troll". On other occasions, a person may not instantly understand, or fit into the social norms of a forum where most users are the same. As a result, their acting just slightly out of the norms (often unintentionally, and for legitimate reasons) garners the label "troll". It can sometimes be difficult to distinguish between a user who is merely unfamiliar with the social protocols of a forum, and a user who is intentionally trolling; unfortunately, many users react aggressively on a first impression to a perceived troll, which sometimes leads disgruntled new users to become legitimate trolls. There are many skillful "trolls" on this forum and I used to hate the word because I was labelled one on a forum when I defended a breeder I "knew" who was wrongly accused of stealing a picture and I didn't know what it meant. I was appalled at the troll hunt that ensued and the way I was treated. When a group of people on a forum want to make life miserable for one member they join together and constantly find fault with the posts and look for ways to convince the admin to ban the member. It is quite successful usually because it is done to newbies on small forums where the "regulars" have a lot of power. It is harder to do on the large forum with a lot of members because others will see what is happening and try to stop the "lynch mob". The admin here is very very good and rarely do these groups succeed here but that doesn't stop them from trying again and again. |

What about one member that wants to make life miserable for a forum? I've never known of members asking admin to ban anyone. I know that I've never done that. I think that Sherry Lynn gave the best analogy when she talked about a Holocaust website...http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ight=Holocaust

| This is also from curezone: Sometimes, Internet trolling is trying to spin conflicting information, is questioning in an insincere manner, flaming discussion, insulting people, turning people against each other, harassing forum members, ignoring warnings from forum moderators.( Often by a group of trolls banding together.) Trolling is a form of harassment that can take over a discussion. Well meaning defenders can create chaos by responding to trolls. The best response is to ignore it, or to report a message to a forum moderator. CureZone moderators usually delete troll messages or block trolls. Negative emotions stirred up by trolls leak over into other discussions. When this occurs on my threads I do my best to ignore the insults, the baits, the misquotes and the harassment and I may or may not report to admin, but usually someone does, and the worst posts get deleted and sometimes the troll gets suspended. |

| Donating YT 14K Club Member | From another forum totally unrelated to yorkies or dogs for that matter... How do I recognize a troll? It is never easy to tell them apart from genuine posters especially when they do not disclose their goal immediately. We have seen cases where trolls took several months to build support in the community before starting their trolling activity in the open. Contrary to what most people may imagine, their contribution to the community may be positive and supportive at first. Some will even go into baiting people (or accomplice/other identities) to abuse them publicly to garner more support. This is especially true for trolls who seek attention or financial gains. How to deal with them? Trolls are best to be ignored. In fact, each time you will mention them or talk about them or talk to them you will reinforce the negative effect on the community. DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS. This is our best recommendation. Use the Ignore button at the top right of the posts and avoid the topics that look artificially controversial. Do not reply to these bait posts and do not communicate any personal information. In support communities, the troll will often pose as a victim. They will seek your support and trust.
