Banning Suggestion

When I first read those words in print were beyond disturbing. The post was not an verbal attack toward a member of YT but so much worse..........toward a defenseless dogs without a voice. They were used to incite and cause emotional harm to members of this board. Threats against animals should never be tolerated or acceptable~even if there is a halfhearted apology once tempers simmer down.

Thank you for your suggestion. Suspensions and bans are made on a case-by-case basis. We will take your suggestion into consideration if it occurs in the future.

I agree with the other posts in that this is emotional blackmail and shouldn't be tolerated. And, think this subject (threatening PTS) should be addressed in the YT rules for future readers benefit.

Ok Ladies, step away from the computer. There is a recent thread (today) where she apologized, and it was heartfelt in my opinion. Most will fogive and move on.

Just this old guys opinion. Things heat up, and a lot will say things they may not mean. When the bullets are flying, we get an adrenelin rush. Some just lay there in shock, while others move forward. Move forward.

Nancy by no means was insinuating that this person needed to be banned. But, used the post as an example and as a suggestion to add such a rule to the list of others. I've seen other threads such as that, but, I'm pretty sure this particular one being recent was why Nancy used it.

The PTS post was taken seriously by several members here and they were extremely upset. Although, I did not believe her threat to be serious, it was still a heartless cruel thing to even post. I have had a good friend banned from this site for a much less offensive post - and she was speaking up for a dog!

I don't necessarily think this person should be banned as the YT rules don't specifically mentioned PTS threats are a reason for banning. But, I do think the rule should be added and banning or a long suspension should be the action taken in the future.

I totally agree. There are suggestions all the time in this forum for changes to rules. It's that what this section is for~suggestions on how to handle different situations or issues?

I still stand behind my original statement that it is/was disturbing to read and without a specific rule in place it was not addressed at the time. If a rule would have been in place then it possibly it would have been applied.

The above mentioned post was not the first time a member threatened to have a dog PTS. I remember about 2 yrs ago there was a guy that threatened to take his dog and "have it killed". The rule could have applied to that thread as well. That too was posted (i believe) for shock value.

FYI~this thread was NOT started to call for a BANNING for anyone. It was to ask for a change in rules to address a situation the did happen but it was NOT the first time on this forum that someone threatened to do this.

Thank you ADMIN for considering this and all of the other suggestions that are made in this forum.

Two thoughts, first NO ONE should ever, ever say those words...NEVER and I do not believe people should be allowed to say hateful things and then later say oh I am sorry. People need to think before they post.

Second, you are new here and there is more history than what you are seeing in a couple of posts. It is why many of us who have been around a long time talk about the newbies because some of this has been going on for years.

To me, it was more important that she said she was sorry.I doubt anyone took her totally serious when she made the remark. That was her way of fighting back. Some of you going to keep this going ad nauseum? Admin has already replied. I may be newer here, but I am not newer to how the world operates. She apologized, now how about cutting her some slack.

To each their own. Many of us fight to keep animals alive and yes animals are killed everyday by sick humans..right now there is one in TN where the owner is going to shoot their dog unless a rescue picks him up. Do you want to gamble on the owner is just trying to get rid of the dog?

I know you have fun on this forum and that is great but there are some of us who place dogs ahead of people...and find this type of thing very unsettling.

I agree with your 1st Paragraph 100%. however, as much as I love my dogs, I place a human above them if push comes to shove. but again, that is just me. My dogs live better than most humans. I enjoy a bit of fun, but this thread is going over board. I sincerly believe that she would not have put her Dog down. I am sure there are some others that would agree. I guess we agree to disagree, which is fine. I have no problem with that.

You do realize that many breeders will cull some of their dogs. Why do you suppose that do this? Is that being cruel? I have my own thought, and while I could not do it, I realize why some do.

I am done posting on this thread. I will not change anyones mind, and no one here will change mine. Again, that's fine too.
