I'm not sure if you mean one of the links I posted, but no Yorkietalk doesn't charge anything to post a picture, I wonder if you are getting some type of popup from another site? I've never heard this happening before, and I think you have some type of spyware attached to your computer. Anyway, I'll have a moderator check on this end and see if she know what could be happening.

It may be too big of a file. Nowadays cameras take such huge pictures, and websites such as Yorkietalk have a limit on the size. An 8x10 picture usually works, but the actually limit is in KB's and it's 200 kb. Use the test forum to practice and let me know if you still can't figure it out.

Lots of people feel your pain.... if you're using a phone to take photos and send in to here from there, select a smaller format.. I think a 640 x 480 VGA usually works unless there is lots of light and color... maybe these newer phones call that "medium" quality, IDK... I have an older phone.

if from a laptop/PC you'll need to shrink the file... I think it was this thread that I stated how I did that using a batch shrink... might be another thread.. try a couple things... then ask a few more questions, we'll try to help.

and it seems the resizers I've seen only come using physical dimensions not kilobytes
so it's a hit and miss ...

Here is a re-sizer that lets you set the kb size:

This one shows the size in kb, but you can't choose the size specifically except in dimensions:

For the phone, go to your app store and search for photo re-sizers...there are some where you can choose the kb size.

:confused: I can host my own pic files - But I have tried using the [IMG] tag with no success.

That Tag appears to be disabled - is posting self-hosted pics not desirable at YT?

Or does a new member need to pass a certain threshold to be eligible?

The [ IMG ] tag is turned off for all members. You are welcome to link to your own pictures in your threads if you would like, or attach them to your posts.

I see several members having problems with uploading your pups photo. I have tried every link sent to me and nothing seems to work. Will I ever be able to post a photo of my Yorkie Packer from my iPhones photo library? All the links refer to how to work with your computer, is their anyone that has uploaded their pups photo using their iPhone photo gallery if so please tell me how you did it. My photos always come in over 200kbs I even resized them with the optimizer then was told it's not a valid file. Also there are no directions how to transfer the resized photo to my membership profile photo of my dog.
