| wanted to ask this question again -did vet do a pre and post bile acid test to rule out liver shunt as very common in yorkies and can cause seizures. It seems your baby had the seizures before and someone took the pup to a rescue which is sad Please do this test as it is a fast of 12 hours then a blood pull then feed the pup and then wait 2 hrs then re-pull the blood to see how the liver is functioning and check the dog food protein you are feeding as high protein food can trigger seizures in a liver shunt dog - the liver shunt can be repaired and you need to rule this out before doing pheno - pleae this is very important - many vets are not familiar with this disease - join this group Liver_Shunt_And_MVD_Support@yahoogroups.com as they are awesome at liver disease, kidney, and everything as they are very good at looking up info and very familiar with seizures and may give you some more info - hang in there ;( |

I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | I am so sorry to hear about your poor little one You must just be going crazy as for what to do with her. I honestly have no advice, except to keep her hydrated since she is having so much of the "ugly d" I would most DEFINITELY give her a syringe full of Pedialyte every hour, on the hour. I did this for for Tatum when she was sick with Coccidia, I just used the clear Pedialyte - she actually loved it. Also I would give her Nutri-Cal quite often if she is throwing up and isn't able to keep her food down. I will be saying prayers for Kiwi - I sure do hope you have good news for us all soon

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I just read this and I am sendng prayers your way. I hope Kiwi's medications are making her more comfortable. The dogs are our children. And you are wonderful for taking her in from a shelter. One thought, did she have a microchip? Maybe the microchip company could give you information re her former owners or vet.... |

| This is the first time I have seen this post and I feel so bad for little Kiwi..I cant imagine being in your shoes..especially right now..I have been laid for a while and my savings account is drained..if one of my dogs got sick right now I do not know what I would do??? Not that I wouldnt want to help them but I just couldnt...I hate to even think about it..I have always had a good sized savings account for my dogs exclusively...but now its gone..at least until I find another job..I pray the phenobarbitol controls her siezures!!! | Thank you all once again for your comments! Another update....NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS! Kiwi had a great day yesterday (and so did Kobi)...we had no accidents in the house at all, no V or the big D, and she ate like a champ and took her meds. Slept well all night, and so we seem to be doing wonderfully. There's always that if in the back of my mind, but I'm trying to be hopeful and not think about that! So thanks for all prayers...things are sure looking up lately...and I hope I don't jinx it again!

| Ms Kiwi I am so happy to hear things are going well for you and Kiwi. I hope we all continue to pray for a speedy recovery for her and some much needed piece of mind for her mom. My two have developed diarhea the past few days and I KNOW what you are going thru on that issue. Then having to worry about the seizures on top of that. Bless you for sharing your story with us. Please continue to vent, cry, shout or anything else you need to do to get thru this situation. That's what we are here for. Hopefully this is a "safe" place we all can come to and learn from each other as well as offer support . I keep thinking of the saying, "But for the grace of God, go I. " This could be OUR issue one day. And for many it already has occured. Let's continue to lift each other up on this forum. Keep us informed on how you guys are doing. We really do care about the two of you.

| Well, everything's been going incredibly well lately! Ms. Kiwi has not had another seizure since Friday when she was put on meds...and she's been doing so good with potty and everything I'm so proud of her...she's been a little fighter, and I knew she'd make it Now, as a treat for her, she's getting signed up for the GE!!
