| My little Kingston just threw up! I am a new mom to a rescued 2 year old yorkie, that we have had now for about 2 months. We had no trouble with him at all when we first found him. We got him Iams dry dog food to eat and he seemed to be doing just fine. After he was neutered and microchipped and had some teeth pulled we have had some problems with him throwing up. The first time was about a week after his neutering and it looked just like mushed up wet dog food, then again the next day, then the next day he had poop that was surrounded by a brownish jelly type substance. We took him to the vet and they put him on Pepcid and some gasterointestinal food. He was been fine now for about a week and a half and then tonight all of a sudden he jumps down off the couch and throws up. I, of course, go into freak out mode! The vet said last time that he may have a foreign object in his stomach??? Has anyone ever been told this? He very well could have gotten into something tonight as I was cleaning up and he was following me around. Also it is never right after he eats, it is like it sits on his stomach and then he decides to "get rid of it". I think that the vets office thinks that I am crazy because I call all the time. Not to mention we have never had a dog before, but I couldn't just leave him out on the highway where we found him??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

| Hi there! Welcome to YT! That was very good of you to rescue a poor pup from the side of the road. Sorry to hear he's not feeling well. As for the jelly, my pup has had that often and it just means his intestines are irritated. It may only be a concern if it persists for a few days. Hopefully he'll pass whatever it was he ate! You may also want to change his food. If you check the Health & Diet section of this board you will see that nearly no one on this forum feeds Iams. It's a terrible food. Actually, anything you can buy in a supermarket should be avoided. Check the first few ingredients in a food, and if it says 'corn' or 'byproducts', put it back! There are lots of good brands out there - they're sold in pet food retail stores and not any more expensive than the supermarket brands. Some to look for are Canidae, Merricks, Eagle Pack, Chicken Soup...I can't think of any more right now but just browse the Health forum and you'll see that this is a very popular topic on this forum. Good luck and hope your baby feels better soon. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have 3 dogs and they all throw up and have gel like poop sometimes. I try and never give them any thing other their premium dog food and a milk bone bisquit. If I break down and give them people food one of them always ends up sick. Sounds like it could just be an upset tummy. You could have a stomach Xray done to check for a foreign body just to be safe, I hope he feels better soon. That was so nice you took him in.
