| Tiger is sick and I need advice During the weekend, I noticed my yorkie Tiger becoming lethargic, not eating, shivering and starting to breath heavily with a raspy sound. On Sunday, he chased a squirel and it sounded like he was having an asthma attack. I immediately took him to the Emergency Vet where he was examined and diagnosed as having kennel cough. They took X-rays and said his airway were clear, not collasped or blocked. The vet prescribed an antibioic, Clavamox (two times a day) for seven days. I started him on them on Sunday. He has not improved but will take food ocasionally. He is still urinating but I have not seen him have a bowel movement yet. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I take him to the vet again. Thanking you in advance for your help, Bill |

| A vaporizer may help him breathe easier. If he has an outright attack, go into the bathroom, turn on the shower super hot and shut the door with the fan off. The steam should help him. If he is not significantly better in a day or two I would take him back to the doctor. Kennel cough can be stubborn and can take several rounds of meds to clear up. It can turn into pneumonia also, so better to be proactive. Good luck and keep us posted!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | When I got Cali she had it and gave it to my older pom and it took months to clear up and several rounds of Clavimox. I think it is viral but they give the antibiotic to prevent pneumonia. I did have them checked a few times to make sure it hadn't gone in to pneumonia. The steaming in the bathroom is great advice and that's what my veyt said to do as well. Hope he feels better soon,
