Please pray for Paisley Hi everyone, as alot of you know we just got Paisley about 2 weeks ago. When we first got her we noticed her ears were bothering her. I asked my breeder about this and was told she had mites but was given revolution to get rid of them. I was upset that I wasn't told about this before getting her since I do have other pets. However, I let it go and figured she'd be ok. However, after going to the vet yesterday its been discovered that Paisley has two ear infections. Her one ear is so bad that it has swollen shut. My vet was very upset by this and didn't know how to treat her because of her size and age. She said the type of infection that's in Paisley's ear is very dangerous and can cause numerous other problems if not taken care of right away. She said this infection was in there for some time and thats why it was causing so many problems now. She said she has never seen a puppy Paisley's age have such a bad infection. :( She told us we were going to have to take Paisley to a specialist because they could not treat her the way they needed too. (age/size) Our vet called the specialist to see if we could be seen right away. This doctor is a few hours away and was nice enough to tell my vet what to try first with Paisley before having us make the trip. We were given seven differen't types of medicines. No that is not a typo. She has to have four of the meds put in the very bad ear and the other three meds in the other ear. We have to clean both her ears twice a day for two weeks and if they don't get any better, then we have to take her to the specialist. :( I'm very upset about this and can't imagine the pain this poor baby must be feeling. This truly breaks my heart that she is having to go through this. I can only hope that all the medicine works and this infection goes away and a specialist is not needed. I'm also terrified that she could possibly spread something on to my other babies. I feel very overwhelmed about all of this right now. I just want her to be happy and healthy. She's such a pleasant little girl. Please keep Paisley in your prayers. We would appreciate it so much. Thank you for listening to me. Dina |
aw i'm so sorry Paisley has such a bad ear infection. i hope it clears up with all the medication your giving her. |
Poor Paisley!! I hope all that medicine helps her little ears. I hope that you don't have to see a specialist and let it clear up on its own. |
Poor little angel. Sure hope all the meds work and she doesn't have to see the specialist. On the other hand, you need to have a stern visit with the breeder you purchased her from. In addition, you need to document this entire situation and prepare yourself to go to small claims court. I would not let her get away with this, for your sake as well as that poor baby who's been sufffering for heaven knows how long. Keep us posted. |
Poor baby!!! Hopefully the meds will work quickly and give her some relief. Since it's an infection hopefully your others won't pick it up. I will pray she gets well soon. I hate seeing these babies suffer. |
Oh no Dina I'm very sorry! Poor little Paisley!:( I don't get why you weren't told it was this bad by the breeder and why she wasn't treated before she was sold to you, if the vet said it could have been prevented. I hope none of your other babies caught anything. Did you have them checked out? Do you think that maybe that is what could have caused Snoot to act that way the other day? Just a thought. I am soo sorry, please let us know what happens. I hope she gets better. I think she will cause she has a good mama to take care of her. |
Poor Paisley. :( I hope the medicine works for her and you don't have to take her to the specialist. I think I would be having a "talk" with that breeder like others have said on here. I'm sorry you and Paisley have to go thru this. |

Thank you. ;) As for the breeder, I really hate to say anything bad about her because she is a YT member. She was very good with me during the entire process before getting Paisley. She said she had no idea she had this infection and apologized about this mess. However, if Paisley has to see a specialist, I guess true colors will show and I only hope she steps up and takes care of the bills. I honestly do feel this is her responsibility since Paisley had this infection before I got her. I just truly hope nothing gets to the point where this breeder and I are not getting along. Right now I only care about Paisley getting better. Thank you for reading my post and thinking of Paisley. ;) |

Hi and thank you so much. I don't believe Paisley can pass on this infection but I am concerned about the mites being passed on. :( However, all my other babies have revolution on them now, so hopefully they will be ok. Watching them suffer is so hard. I just feel so helpless. Thanks for thinking of her. ;) |

Hi Sarah, the breeder said she didn't know about the infection. I truly hope this is true and as of now I do believe her. However, she did not tell me about the mites until I got Paisley. Yes, this upset me because I do have other furbabies and mites are so contagious. However, Snoot, Trixie and Pia have revolution on them now, so hopefully they won't catch anything. I'm so sorry I never posted about Snoot's update. With everything going with Paisley I totally forgot. My vet believes it was a seizure. :( Since it was his first that we know of, not much can be done. If they would start to happen all the time, then he would need to be put on medicine. Between Paisley and him, I can't stop crying. I just hope both are ok. Thanks for thinking of us. ;) |

here's hoping the medicine works quickly and she's good as new before you know it! Hugs to you both.... |
Oh poor Paisley. I just can't imagine the pain that must cause her. I hope one of the meds is for pain. She sounds like she is being very brave though...and I know you must be worried like crazy. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers. Patty |

Poor little Paisley. With such a good mommy, she'll be healthy in no time. |
I'm so sorry Paisley has such a bad infection:( Rebel had infection in both ears when I first got him. I took him to the vet within 48 hours for a well puppy checkup and because he had "stinky ears". I had antibiotic drops to put in twice a day and he was fine in no time. I hope Paisley gets well just as quickly:) |
Awww Dina, you know I am praying for her girl. You already know what I think of it all  and I am just so sorry that all of this happened to her, she doesn't deserve it and I know the pain that she is in :( Please give her a big hug and kiss from me and the babies ok? We love you Paisley!!! |
Poor baby! Earmites alone are miserable. Hugs to everyone. |
Poor little Paisley. I hope the medication works and she is well very soon! The only time we had problem ears ... the groomer was cutting the hair way down in Toto's ear instead of pulling them out ... I didn't know it! The hair way down in there was just a matted mess and when I bathed her the water couldn't evaporate and caused a bad infection in her little ears! grrrrrrrrr I was furious! Fortunately it didn't take but a few weeks to clear up with medication, a great big butt chewing by our vet and a firing of the groomer! I hope the medication works for Paisley and she is feeling better soon! We will be praying for her. |
Poor little baby, sending prayers to you both, hoping the meds work soon:) |
Dina, I am sending out huge prayers to Paisley, and little Snoot for what they are going through. I really hope the breeder did not know what was going on w/Paisley because that would just be a terrible thing for someone to do. I also hope all of her other puppies are checked out just in case :(. You know I'm always here for you if you need anything at all girl <3 |
Oh, I'm so sorry for Paisley and my little Snoot! I was on vacation for a week and just found out. I am sending prayers and good thoughts their way! XOXO |
poor little thing. i hope she does get well soon |
Poor little sweetie. I hope she gets better real soon. |
Wow, Dina, I am so sorry. How is she doing now? I really and truly hope she gets better soon. I can just imagine how stressful this must be for you. I am quite optimistic that she will get better with medication. When I first got Buffy she had very bad ear mites and a yeast infection (they did not have revolution at the time). Keep your chin up! I know little Paisley will get better soon. |
Update on Paisley Hi everyone, I just wanted to thank each of you for your kind words. After reading a few comments I realized I needed to explain a little better on what was going on with her ears. She has two differen't types of infections. Her right ear isn't as bad. If both ears were like the right one, then this wouldn't be so serious. The infection in the right ear is easily treated with the three medicines given. However, the infection in the left ear is the true problem and why the specialist may be needed. I'm not good with all the medical terms, but whatever type of infection that is in her left ear is very serious. It can easily spread to her entire body. This type of infection can definately kill an animal if it gets out of control. Paisley is being treated, so I can only pray it wouldn't get this bad. My vet said it would probably take several days for the four differen't medicines to begin working and relieve some of the swelling in her left ear. However, I swear her ear is already begining to look better. The medicine went down her ear much easier today, so I'm being positive and hoping the swelling is going down. She's not the happiest little girl right now but thats to be expected. Thank you all for thinking of us during this time. We truly appreciate all the wonderful comments and prayers. Dina ;) |
