Just seeing this...I was also wondering about permanent hearing loss???... Did the vet. indicate that could be an issue?...I hope your update has some encouraging news...poor Paisley must be feeling so miserable...Kisses & hugs for her.... |
Paisley Update 7-10-07 Hi everyone, I just got back from the vet's office a little while ago. I have good and bad news. :( The good news is that Paisley's bad ear is now open. The swelling has definately gone down some, so the medicine is working. However, it's still swelling some and now the ear that wasn't as bad is going shut. :( I had this feeling this would happen, but not much I could do about it. I now have new medicine to give for this ear and she is beyond fed up with me. We had a very hard time with her at the vet today. She was putting up quite the fight and did NOT want her ears touched at all. It's getting harder and harder to get the medicine in her ears. She's so tiny that it makes it hard to hold her still. I can't hold too tight because I feel like I'm hurting her, but then she wiggles and shakes the medicine right out. :( Right now she's sound asleep. She was fighting over the BOBO with Trixie a little bit ago. ;) I can tell she wants to carry on with the others, but doesn't have the energy to do so. Pia's been right by her side for everything. She just cuddles with her and is acting very motherly. I believe this is making Paisley feel better. I guess not much I can do about anything right now, other then pray these medicines work their magic. Thank you all for your prayers. I know she's going to get better soon with all the love everyone is sending her way. ;) |

I can understand what you are going through, Peanut had a double ear infection. The only way we could give him his medicine is to wrap him in a blanket. It takes more than two people to do that. It took one person to wrap him in the blankets, the second had to hold his head, and the third person had to put the medicine in. I found out that my other Yorkie loves the taste of the medicine, and I had to yell at him a lot because he would try to lick the medicine out of Peanut's ears. So, watch your other dogs, make sure they don't lick the medicine out of Paisley's ears! Sending prayers and good thoughts your way! Get well soon Paisley. :getwellso |
Sounds like you are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Poor little one. Wrapping her in a blanket to have someone hold her for you sounds like a good idea. Then some good lap time. You sound like such a great mama. |

ohh poor Paisley! I'm sorry she has to go through that. I'll pray for her fast recovery. I'm sure she be ok soon! |
Have heard of this manytimes When I get a new pup I always treat it for earmites. An older dog who just acquired ear mites will show signs of irritation because it is a new condition to them and it's aggrevating. When pups get it soon after whelping seldom do they show signs of irritation because they never knew their ears to feel any different so when it goes on for some time it can cause serious damage to inner ear and hearing. Sometimes the mites are far down in canal and you cannot see the telltale reddish stain in ears. Yorkies or all pups with human like hair seem to fair the worst I think pests like it better or something! |
