| Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Dena, I'm so sorry you are going thru all this with little Zoie. She is a sweet sweet pup and deserves the very best. You gave her that. I know pneumonia can take a long time to clear up but she's been sick for so very long. You are doing your very best by her. Before you make any permanent decisions I think you should talk with the current vet that is seeing her and ask him what else you can do. Tell him its down to the point where you cannot financially take care of her anymore. You put over 6k into her care and i'm sure a huge portion of that went to him. See if he can cut down on the cost of her treatment. Why would he want to see you give her up or put her to sleep when he invested so much of his time into her care as well? talk to him. Also write to the universities in your area and tell them her whole story. Someone might care enough to give her treatment for free, Or they might be so curious about her condition they they will want to cure it because its proving so difficult. I hope something pans out for you and that are able to keep and help Zoie. My prayers and thoughts are with you, and if you need help or want to talk please pm me. Kellie

Hang in there. You've invested so much money and time into little Zoie. You love her, it shows by your care for her. Talk with you Vet and explain that you want her to get better but you are beyond your limit with $ and you just don't know what to do anymore

| You know, I was reading this and I got to thinking - with so many Yorkie Talk members, perhaps we could all get together and create an "Emergency Fund" amongst ourselves. Or does such a thing already exist? I will start a new thread to see if anyone is interested, and we'll see how it goes! It obviously won't be instantaneous, so I'm afraid it won't solve this particular problem, but perhaps together we can help to prevent similar problems in the future! Let me know on the new thread what everyone thinks! |

| I'm not asking for handouts or a fundraiser or anything like that from anyone. I don't want you guys to think I'm asking for money by any means. I'm just looking for some support. |

| Sorry Dena - I didn't mean to imply that you did. It was just that your story got to me, and having faced a similar (although not nearly as expensive) emergency vet bill, I know how stressful it can be. I thought I would put the idea of an "Emergency Fund" out there and see what results. Good luck with Zoie, and sorry again if I gave the wrong impression! |

| Dena, I thought about you while at dinner tonight. I can imagine how stressed out you are. WOW 6K in such a short period of time. Last year we spent about 5K on Roxy (Luxating Patella surgery, etc...) Then we found out TJ has it too and we will have to have surgery for him at some point. I remember your journey into getting little Zoie. I know how much you wanted another and how you wanted Wokie to be a big brother and have a forever playmate friend. For some reason Zoie fell upon you. I know that you love her with all your heart and she doesn't deserve to be sick. IMO, I wouldn't give her up. I know that's easier said than done, but with all that you went through to get her and then all that you went through while you've had her (emotions and money), I just think that you have invested a lot of emotions and a lot of money into her and there's got to be a way to make this work. Right now, I am concerned about her tooth. And I know that you are too. How much is the Vet visit to remove her tooth? We have to find a way to make that happen asap. Tooth infections are pretty serious, b/c the infection can go into the blood stream and straight to the heart. I don't want to scare you, I just want us to find a way to make that better for little Zoie right now. Then, I think you should really talk it over with the Vet, about how much you spent already and you just don't know what to do anymore? I also like the idea of the University? Maybe there's someplace less expensive to do the xrays? Please let us know what your thoughts are, we are here for you and want to try to help you in some way |

The weird thing is.. Zoie isn't acting sick at all.. shes still eating like normal and chewing on her bones and being crazy with Wookie. I think she doesn't feel pain or something.

I know that you really, really want the be Zoie's Mom forever So please keep in touch and we are here for you and ready to try and figure something out to help you |

| Zoie's tooth will be again min. of at least $1,000. So I have decided not to do anything about it, and find her a new home. She deserves the best. I can't offer that to her. I have found a local program for re-habilitating and re-homing yorkies. I feel horrible and extremely sad, but this is necessary. |

| 1000 dollars for pulling a tooth? That has to be a mistake, you need to find another veterinarian! What antibiotics has she been on so far? Poor thing, 6 grand for vet bills just seems outrageous to me. My baby suffered an inner ear infection and was on very strong antibiotics for a very long time. She was at the vet every week for over 3 mths and our vets here are not cheap. My bills are nowhere near that, they are maybe a third of what you have paid so far..
