Tink is having her surgery tomorrow morning. My little furgirl is having her FHO in the morning. I have really mixed feelings about it. I know she needs to have it done but it just seems so cruel to put her through all that. I wish God would just heal her. Sigh! My vet and the surgeon are both very optomistic that in a few months we won't even be able to tell she has hip dysplasia. My vet friend Deb is out of town on a cruise and I can't reach her to make myself feel better. Sniff! I've really got the "poor me" feelings today. If you have time, please say a prayer for her tonight and tomorrow that all will go well with the surgery and she will have a speedy recovery. Pray for my nerves too and that I will have the physical strength to do the therapy she will need. My little furbaby.:( |
Be strong Mom. Prayer's coming for Tink to have a successfull surgery. I hope the time just flies by for you. Keep us updated from time to time on her progress. Hugs from us, |
I will be praying for her and you |
sending thoughts and prayer your way...be strong! |
Have you heard anything about her yet? Was the surgery a success? Will she be able to come home today? Just how is mom holding up??? It's not cruel to for her to have surgery to fix this - it would be cruel to NOT do it cause then she would always be in pain. Animals need surgery sometimes just like us ol' humans do. You're being a good mom for her! As for the PT, have they told what you will have to do? For Brea I just had to move the leg and they told me once she started walking on it that I could quit the PT. Update us as soon as you know anything ok???? Hugs...:) |
Sweet Tink and her Momma will be in my thoughts tomorrow morning. Charlie says he is sending Tink a "get well" wish - especially because she is so pretty. That is serious surgery, and glad you have a specialist in your corner. Warmly, Deborah and Charlie For Tink: :hearts-en |
Anxiously waiting to hear that Tink did well in surgery! Sending prayers and good thoughts your way! |
Prayers and positive thoughts headed your way. Tomorrow will be a long day for both of you, but hang in there!:D |
Lots of prayers for Tink from Kay & Jaxon!!! |
My thoughts are with you and Tink for tomorrow..... Be brave both you.... At least tonight will keep your mind of it for a while... Good Luck Tink! |
Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers.:) The surgeon said she will need to walk with a sling to keep her from putting too much weight on the leg for the first week. They will tell me in the morning what therapy she will need. I think she has to go back for some warm water therapy, but since she's little, that should be easy to do in the bathtub at home. I've read alot about it on the web so I feel prepared. This will be $2000 well-spent on my little sweetie. But she better be prepared to work hard with that therapy! We had a little talk last night at bed-time but I'm not sure she got it all. She looked a little confused. Like "But Mom, I can't be expected to work! I'm a fairy." Now she's never used that excuse before. Because we both know she's NOT a fairy. She's my little furbaby!:D I'll post as soon as I know something tomorrow. Thanks everyone. |
i'll be sending prayers and good thoughts for you and Tink tomorrow. I'm sure her surgery will go just fine and you'll have her home on wednesday. She'll be as good as new in a few months and she'll be so much happier. |
Hoping and praying that Tinks surgery is a total success, and that the therapy goes smoothly. Best wishes for you too!!! |
We're sending prayers, hugs and good thoughts to you and Tink. :nursing: :bighug: |

I emailed Susie at work and she said that Tink had just gone in, she was due to go into surgery at 11, so she's been in a while now. She said she would post as soon as she heard something... Just thought I'd let you all know... |
Well wishes going out and hoping the surgery is a total success and the little fairy lives a long, happy, healthy life. |
 Ho hum! Argh! I'm still at work since Tink is in the hospital. I called at 3:30 to check on her and they said she was fine and the vets would call me later when all the surgeries were completed. Probably a standard answer. I'll bet all the moms and dads drive them nuts. Then they called at 4:30ish and said she hadn't even had her surgery yet! I'm rather annoyed since they told me they would call late afternoon and let me know how she was doing. The vets only had three surgeries today, some teeth to be pulled for an Italian greyhound, a spay for a doberman, and another FHO for a boxer. I asked if they had gotten some emergencies in since Tink was supposed to be number 4 and she said no, just the three from that morning that had been critical surgeries. I think she didn't see me talking to their moms and didn't know that I knew they weren't critical surgeries. Although, the FHO on the boxer probably took some time to do. So unless something awful happened with one of those, I don't understand. Soooo, they said it would take about an hour or an hour and a half for the surgery and then they would call me. I'm trying not to be upset, 'cause I want to think there's a good explanation. My poor baby could have stayed home this morning in her own house instead of a hospital crate.:( But I know they need to do bloodwork and shave them and monitor them. So maybe I should just be quiet and go shopping. I need to get some sheets from Tuesday Morning. They have 350-400 thread count Egyptian cotton sheet sets on sale today for $20 for twin and full size. $30 for queen. Think that will help? Me neither!! I want my baby back!!!! :( |
Everything is going to be ok. I'm sure Tink is going to get better soon too. Good wishes and prayers to you and Tink:) |
Yeah She's Done And All Better!!! I had just hit "submit reply" and my cell buzzed. It was the surgeon calling to say Tink was resting comfortably sedated. The surgery went very well and while he was in there looking at the bones he decided she most probably has Legge Perthes disease NOT hip dysplasia. So he took extra caution with the bones and he believes the post-op X-rays confirm that. The other hip is in excellent condition and will not need surgery. :D Unexpected information! So, he said I can go get her tomorrow morning at 11:00. I'm gonna take work home with me so I can stay home with her tomorrow. I don't want her to be all alone her first day home from the "house of horrors". :p Just trying to have some humor here. I know we are very blessed to have the facilities we do here. :) Having an excellent vet school at the University is certainly a plus because we get the benefit of that at the vet hospitals. Since January, 2 more emergency vet hospitals have opened in Madison. The one where Tink is, is an orthopaedic surgery specialty clinic and an emergency hospital. It's really state of the art! So, now I really do have to go shoping to cheer myself up and to get Tink a new shirt or treat or something to keep her busy in her crate for the next week. Therapy, here we come! :D |

Yay, see, tomorrow morning isn't too long to wait for her! I'm sure she'll be well looked after at the vet's tonight and be really confortable! :D |
Good news, she did well thru surgery...now keep thinking happy thoughts...did you get your sheets? Sounds like Tink's in very good hands, how wonderful that you have that type of facility in the area. Praying for Tink to get well real soon, recovery time is near. |
