diggy4...Thanks so much for the encouragement...I can be a little bit stubborn, persistant...and maybe slightly overprotective of him, but it really is for his own good...He can't talk, so I have to, for him. Everybody concerned...He passed the physical part of his exam with flying colors, the vet didn't see, hear or feel anything out of the usual. She answered all my questions and added a few of her own...He had some blood work done yesterday, no results back yet, they drew blood for blood count, chemistry and thyroid panel. Goes back next Tuesday for pre and post meal bile acid test, then on Wednesday he'll have more blood drawn for insulin levels, sounds like a glucose challenge, to see how he responds to sugar. I talked this over with my hubby, and I think for our peace of mind, it'll be worth the time and money spent. She said he'll need to be treated for the seizures if we don't find a cause, as he's had more then 6 in a years time, a lot more and they do seem to be somewhat violent and last longer then most seizures. So, I'm going to just take a deep breath and hope everything turns out okay, for Winston's sake!!! The one thing that concerns me is she prefers Phenobarb...if his liver is functioning properly, with frequent test for levels, she thinks it's the safest, we'll have to wait and see. I do want to thank everybody for their suggestions, advise and most of all their caring concern for my little boy, Winston thanks you from the bottom of his little heart!!! |
Hey, thats what we are here for! There is not a test for epilepsy right?? I think my vet said that. My girl friends beagle has a seizure every other month so about 6 a year. She does not treat her. Not out of disconcern but the seizures are painless (says the vet) and the side effects of the meds for seizures can be more detrimental than the seizure itself.....How long do his seizures last?? Youve probably said but i missed it. Mollys are 2-5 minutes. Vet thinks epilepsy. |

Kathy, I am so sorry I just saw this thread. With the PattiCake train that was basically all I was reading when I was signing on as there were so many posts as you know. You were right there with us posting and giving encouragement and you never said a word about Winston. I feel so bad that I missed the thread about your little one. I am so glad he is feeling better and I am sending my prayers that he will continue to be healthy. Again I apologize for missing your thread. Jay :aimeeyork |
Kathy, just checking in Hon' to see how Winston is doing; I saw what you wrote about the test results. This must be just so scary for you.... I can only imagine what you are feeling.... how difficult it must be for you to swallow past that "rock" you have sitting in your chest (that's the awful feeling we get when we are so scared for our babies wellbeing.) Hugs to you and your precious baby. Please know that I am thinking of you, and holding only the very BEST thought for Winston. Lauren:ghug: and some flowers for Winston;s Mommy....:rose40::rose40::rose40::rose40::rose40: |
AAAAHHHH...Thanks, now I have tears in my eyes, you guys are the greatest...Really I can't thank you enough...It means a great deal to me to know there are people here that truly do care. |
Aw, Kathy! I feel badly that I was so concerned about my own baby I didn't even post any encouragement for you and Winston. I read the posts, but never said anything. Bad YT member!:( But I am glad things are at least evening out for you information-wise. I hope you are able to discover Winston's problem and find a good treatment for him. Poor little fella. You're a good mommy to keep fighting for him since he can't say anything for himself (except, "Aren't I cute."):p Tink and I will send up a prayer for Winston.:) |
Winston Read the latest news on Winston, and you won't regret being very thorough in blood panels, etc. Charlie and I are sending our warmest thoughts to Winston. This must be a worrisome time for your family. Take care, Deborah and Charlie |
All I can say is thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts for Winston. He is such a good boy and I really don't want to miss anything that maybe we can avoid...or control...that's why I decided to have all these test done...If all is good with them, we'll probably be starting him on an anti-convulsant, I did ask the vet if it would be okay not to medicate him...because he really does act totally normal when he's not seizing...She said that because of the frequency and the severity it would be best to try with medication to prevent...or at the very least slow down the number of seizures he's having, I guess long term...they can effect his overall well-being. So, now we test and wait, test and wait...test and wait some more. I don't know, if she doesn't find anything I'm considering a neurology consult...where, I don't know yet...Thanks a bunch everybody...and keep the good thoughts coming. |
Just checking in to see how Winston is feeling today :) I hope your vets are able to find the cause of the seizures... |
Hi Kathy, I was just checking in to see how your little guy is doing. How was he over the weekend?? Do you have any new news on his test results? Don't worry about him being shy. You'll see, the more you take him out and let him interact with other people and dogs, the more comfortable he will become in public. Hope you had a great weekend; wish you could have been at our meetup. I would so have loved to meet you. I posted some pics; they are just so cute - take a look: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...t=82671&page=2 Hugs, Lauren:) |
No news yet...But he goes for his bile acid test in the morning, I'll ask then how his chem panel, CBC and thyroid panel turned out. He's feeling good now...no seizures since May 27th!!! I wish, I hope...that'll be his last. As I'm writing this, I noticed a Google ad right above this reply box..."Pet Seizures and Epilepsy...Prevent and Treat Acute Seizures and Epilepsy in Cats and Dogs". I may just go check it out!!! Never know...maybe it's an "omen"! |
I'm back...It's for a Herbal/Homeopathic liquid drop called PetAlive EaseSure Drops...I have no idea!!! Lauren...I saw your pictures...Looks as though you all had a fantabulous time!!! It's amazing to me how well the dogs seem to get along, Winston is just not that friendly to others...I can see it now...him trying desparately to get away!!! |
Good luck tomorrow with Winstons tests....waiting for results seems like years....Be strong and know you are doing everything you can and all will be okay! :D :) Please let us know as soon as you hear anything and give WInston a kiss from Bella and Diggy! |
Will do...kisses from everyone!!! Will let you guys know, when I know. Thanks a bunch!!! |
Reading your post and look forward to hearing about Winston's tests. Oh, how I hope you are able to find out what is wrong with your precious pup, and it is as simple as a dropper of medicine a day. Take care, Deborah |
