| Addison's Disease in Yorkies? My York has been sick the past two days. He just got released from the Vet Hospital last night. He had been there a day and a half. They think he has Addison's Disease, and gave him the test. He is doing much better now, and so happy to be home. We should get the test results tomorrow Friday. Is this something commen in Yorkies? We were so scared when he got sick. It was the worst feeling in the world, knowing your yorkie baby is sick. We are so concerned about him, and this disease. PLease.....if anyone knows about it, let us know. Amy and Henry

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Pom has just been diagnoses with Cushing's Disease and the treatment is very tricky. If you kill off to much of the adrenal gland then she will get Addison's disease. I believe it is a disease of the arenal gland and medicine like steroids will help. Good luck!

| Addisons disease in yorkies. Our Murphy is also being checked for addisons disease. He throws up if he does not eat every 6-7 hours. We have him on WD science diet and boiled chicken. Every test is normal so far.I think this week the vet is calling and will suggest murphy going on science diet sensitive stomach food. HE is a small yorkie as our Mookie yorkie is small. He also had the same symptons. We now feed him low fat holistic grain free food and boiled chicken. I also make sure they are both feed every 6-7 hours small meals. They even checked mookie for pancreatitis a few years ago. The vet feels they both have very sensitive stomachs. Does anyone else have the same problem with there yorkies? Help is you do? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Addisons has to do with the adrenal glands and having low systemic cortisol - it's actually very easily (and cheaply) managed w/ oral prednisone. When do you get the test results?

| How did Murphy's addison's test turn out? Our Bella also has a problem with vomiting if she does not eat frequently enough, but it turns out that she has GERD/acid stomach. She's fine so long as we feed her first thing in the morning, just before she goes to bed, and leave food out for her during the day. Her case is not severe enough to require medicine or a special diet. |

| Murphy's test turned out fine. Now the vet is changing his diet to science diet to V/D. For sensitive stomachs. I have been trying to feed him every 6-7 hours. Just like you suggested for Willie. Also Pepcid at night. 20min before feeding. So far so Good! I agree that these small breeds have Gerd/Acid. I do hear his stomach growl. He also has allot of energy and I think burns up his food as quickly as he eats. The vet said if he throws up again she wants to do an ultrasound? What do you think. Thanks for any input. |

| Addison’s Ever since my boy had mild pancreatitis, on vet’s advice, I have fed him small meals of prescription food often. He used to occasionally throw up bile in the morning and the vet suggested a pre bedtime small meal plus low night time dose of Pepcid. Since then his GI system has been fine. Always hungry, as I think the food is not very satisfying and gets digested quickly. He sleeps from 8 pm to 6 am usually. Hope the tests for your dog come out well. |
