| It looks like a snake bite to me, but I have no idea how to treat it, obviously clean it, maybe an antibiotic cream and watch it carefully, call the vet if need be. If it's not one thing it seems to be another for your family lately, hope everything will be okay, I think you deserve a break from the drama. Kisses to Molly and well wishes to you all.

| Well my husband and I were just talking about snake bites yesterday. Now I am not positive about this but I was always told (even by a vet) that dogs are amune to snake bites. As they have their own antibodies to fight against it unlike humans. I have had 2 dogs (lab, doberman) get bit by snakes and they just had bad swelling but made a full recovery. Now I know yorkies are much smaller and I myself have 2 yorkies (one teapot and one small), so I don't want to take any chance on a snake bite. Just telling you what I have heard and been told. Again not positive about it. Also to keep snakes away. You may try putting moth balls on the perimeter of your yard.

| Oh yeah that certainly looks like a snake bite. Those little garter snakes don't have fangs so you won't see puncture wounds. My brothers used to tease each other with them when we were all kids. Someone was always getting bitten. Just make sure the area is clean and keep an eye on it for any swelling from infection. She should be fine. Molly must like moving targets - she'll be great in soccer! |

| I think I would have had to sacrifice the frog...But I would have put up a good fight for my Yorkie...So far I've been pretty luck, haven't seen any snakes around here...knock on wood!!! I am happy to hear Molly wasn't bothered by the bite, what a little trooper.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Thought this was interesting This is a Texas Garter Snake (Thamnophis sirtalis annectans) which is a subspecies of one of the most common snakes in the United States which is the Common Garter Snake. While non-poisonous, this snake will readily strike at you, and it can bite with teeth like pins. While it is not poisonous, it can cause an infection if the bite of the teeth is not promptly treated with anti-biotic. This snake can move with lighting speed and usually just wants to zip away from you as fast as possible. |
