Injured Dew Claw My furbaby was running around in the yard today and it looks like his dew claw got caught on something because it broke and is now hanging on the side of his paw. It isn't bleeding heavily so I applied some neosporin. I was panicking a bit so I called the 24 vet in my area and he said it should be fine until I see my vet on Monday. I was just a bit concerned because this is the second time his dew claw broke. He is going to be 2 years old tommorrow, I feel bad he has to be in pain on his special day, and when I got him at 6 months old he had his dew claws. Can anything be done to remove them now or is it too late? I will ask the vet on Monday but wanted to hear some feedback before then.

I just got back from the vet and he said they can be removed even though he is 2 years old. He will use lasers to remove them and they won't grow back. I had to leave him there and it broke my heart because as I was leaving I heard him crying. I hope everything goes well. I am so worried. I will pick him up later tonight. Since he is already under anesthia he is going to clean his teeth too. The bill is very expensive but I love my furbaby and I don't mind paying as long as he won't be hurting his dew claws again. Thanks for the concern and the get well wishes. I will let you know how he is when I pick him up.

I picked up Bachee this afternoon and he seems fine, thank God. His front legs are bandaged and his back leg is too because that is where they put the IV. When he saw me at the vet he ran to me so that was a great sign. Also, as soon as he got home he ate and drank and walked normally. I gave him his pain medication and antibiotic just now and he is sleeping. I hope the rest of his recovery is just as successful.

Thanks for the prayers and the well wishes. He slept fine last night. He usually sleeps in his bed right next to mine but he jumped on my bed so I guess he wanted a little TLC. He was such a good boy this morning because he took his pain medication and antibiotics and didn't spit it out.

He had a so-so day today. He didn't eat very much but he did go for his walk, even though he didn't want to go too far, and he slept alot. I guess the meds made his sleepy. He is really good at taking the meds. He doesn't even spit them out. I had to remove the bandages and I saw the wounds, they look like little holes on the sides of his paws, its so sad. I know they hurt him alot because he was licking them alot.

| Still sending thoughts and prayers that Bachee will recover from this real soon. I do think you made the right choice, once the "holes" heal, he'll be good as new and running races, I'm sure!!!

Thanks again for your well wishes. Everyone has been so kind on this board. Bachee seems to be doing better today. He even went to his toy box and picked out some toys to play with. I was afraid he would scrape the toy against his wounds but he seemed fine.
