One more thing: be sure to express to whomever you bring him that you view his pain as an 8 out 10 (or whatever). Tell them his current pain mgmt. is unacceptable, that he is suffering excessively. Ask them if they're going to put lidocaine in the stitch area before they re-do it. Make sure he's on antibiotics and ask them if you should have a topical antibiotic as well. |
OMG - This poor baby. I just don't have a good feeling about the incision being closed properly. I wish I could jump through the computer and take you guys somewhere so we'd know for sure  |

The more I look at this picture, the more it upsets me...they know better than what they did!!!!! They left openings, where he get get an infection! :( Then they just sent him on his way..... Tammy |
OUTCH !!!! That must hurt ! Poor Baby ! |
I'm no nurse, but I think Wylies mom is giving some great info and advice! I cannot convince myself that those stitches look "right!" I also think they should be nice and tight, closing the skin completely together! If you can convince them that you KNOW this isn't correct or safe for your baby and that you are going to take action, I would! Act as though you are positive about what you are saying! Too bad you just couldn't take the little guy to another dr to just look at this and tell you his opinion - without a charge for this! Poor Mickey! I hope they do something about the stitches and the pain too!! Hugs to you both! |
Well Hubby got Mickey to eat 10 bites of hamburgar and steak and a tablespoon of cottage cheese. and he drank some water for him. heres a picture of hubby crawling in the edge of the cage to feed him. I guess im the bad guy being the one to gets him to take his meds and all. hes still must be mad at me. lol His incision looks a lot better today, the swelling is down and with it being down it makes it look a little more even, we checked it out good and cleaned it. Ill have to take a few more pictures of it. his peepee is purple today and do is his stomach its very bruised, but he seems to be doing a lot better then yesterday.still waiting on the vet to call me back. |
opps forgot the pictures 2 Attachment(s) heres hubby feeding him. |

What a loving Daddy Mickey has. That's good news that the incision does look alittle better today. Hang in there Mickey and continue healing nicely. Hug to you little guy, |
2 Attachment(s) Okay he just woke up, so heres the pictures from just now. What do you think? look any better now that some of the swellings down? |
hey Deb...just got caught up and I do think if you can maybe talk to the vet about something better for his pain. My heart is breaking for him and that really looks RAW ....as many stitches as I've had my own self - I've never seen any that look like that...they're usually nice and tight. Unless there's a good reason for them to stitch like that I'd be watching it very very closely..... Bless his heart - he's been thru so much and I'll be hoping he does heal with no complications. I'm really REALLY glad he's eating - that's wonderful news and good luck - keep us posted and kisses to both your little guys ...I know Minnie must be scared seeing her brother in hurting:( |
We must have posted at the same time - that DOES look better !! Not great but it's better....maybe since he had the surgery just yesterday it was just very raw and new....Thanks for posting that...it's not the neatest incision I've ever seen but the swelling and redness seems better... man his poor little tummy...I hate seeing it bruised like that....is that from the surgery and normal ?? |
yes it must be from the surgery, I will ask if its normal when he calls. |
I just talked to the vet. He said that they had to do the stitching lose because of swelling, once it swells it can pull it to tight and if he walks it would pull on the tight stitch and pull it out because of where its located. He says its pulled close enough that it should heal good and hardly scar. he also said to keep with the peroxide wash and bring him in if I see any redness or infection. he says he will pee only in small spots for a few more days and it will have blood in it. he also said that They pain meds he is on is best for his size and if hes in to much pain That I can give it to him up to 3 x's a day instead of once a day.and all the bruising is normal. and we made him an apt for next week to have it rechecked. |
I'm looking at your recent pics and I can't tell if some areas are still exposed - it looks like one is, about the size of a nickel maybe? It does look better than yesterday but if the areas are still open, they need to be stitched. Also, once he feels well enough to bend, he'll try to grab those loose loops, so I'm a little worried about that. The bruise you see is a hematoma, and I wouldn't be too concerned about it unless it grows large very quickly. MY HEART JUST ACHES FOR YOU, MICKEY AND YOUR HUBBY! Ann |
It DOES look better. And the loose stitch rationale sounds logical enough to me. Keeping him CLEAN and QUIET will be your two most important -- and no doubt most challenging duties -- to promote the healing process. So glad he ate, too. That's always such a relief. God bless poor little him. Hopefully, things are back on track for all of you now. (You're so lucky to have a good daddy for him, too. :) ) Thoughts and prayers continue to head your way. |
