Poor little Bruizer - I pray the meds work and it's nothing serious. Hang in there little buddy, and try to get some food in your tummy.

I buy 80/20 hamburger/ground beef so it really doesn't have fat in it. So should I brown it up and give it to him straight like that? I also strain out the grease (if there is any but there usually isn't). I could throw some white rice in the pan while browning the meat to see if he would eat that. Does this sound good or just brown the meat?????

that sounds good. brown up the meat in a pan and then drain the fat. i too use really lean meat and when i cook it up for hte dogs i put it in a strainer when done and squish all the grease/fat/whatever out of it. Then i mix in boiled rice.

Even better if you use a George Foreman Grill.

that hamburger meat does sound good...i am sure he will loveeeee the taste of that. i am a little confused why your vet didnt test for worms. i think that if he doesnt get better i would for sure get a second opinion before starting another medicine that maybe shouldnt be given...plus, why spend all that money for no reason.....

A scrambled egg made without fat would be good too... when Mizti has tummy problems I give her 'beano' drops, keep her warm and massage her little tummy. Boiled ground chicken with a little rice is he best for an upset puppie stomach.

I don't think I read what kind of food you were feeding him, but it isn't on the recall list is it? It hasn't been mentioned so I thought I'd ask. Also, my vet told me that dogs can get any illness that we can get. I don't know if that means they can catch it from us but it is possible for them to get any illness we can get. I took one of my dogs into the vet about a year ago and the vet told me he had tonsillitis, I had never heard that a dog could get tonsillitis and my vet said, yes, they can get anything we can get so I would ask your vet if it's possible if it isn't food related. Hope he's better soon.

I forgot to add that my Old English Sheepdog has a very sensitive tummy.
If he gets diarrhea I have to take him off food completely for an entire day.
They next day I give him some boiled chicken breast cut up mixed with white rice. I give that for at least two meals (24 hrs) then, I make the same thing and add a bit of kibble if he can handle it I start giving him his food again.
I also add a chicken boullion cube or two to the rice so it has some taste.

Here is also a recipe for rice water which is supposed to help control diarrhea.
Rice Water Recipe to Control Diarrhea:
3 cups water (instead of 2)
1 cup regular enriched white rice

Bring water to boil.
Add rice and simmer for 15 minutes (instead of 20).
Pour off the water into an appropriate container.

Discard the rice solids, or use as filler in your favorite non-medical recipe.
The consistency reminds me of sticky-rice at Chinese restaurants.

The key seems to be the ratio of 3 to 1, water to rice. We use a large 8-quart dutch oven, 9 cups of water and 3 cups of rice. When we pour off the water, we have about 3 1/2 cups of rice water.

I haven't checked the recall list lately but last I knew it wasn't on the recall. I haven't bothered looking cause I havn't had to buy dog food in the last 4 months!!!! I bought a 50 ld bag the last time I bought dog foos and with a sheltie and a yorkie, they don't go through it very fast! But I use Purina Puppy chow Healthy Morsels. I also use pedegree canned puppy once a day, but haven't had to buy any recently because last time I bought some I bought 24 cans. (Went shopping with tax return and stocked up LOL). I am going to make some breakfast and see if he'll eat scrambled eggs but if not I'll try the ground hamburger and see if he'll eat any of that. I will let you all know after I get done if he eats or not. I did get him to take a little nit of nutrical so I think thats a good sign and he is still drinking water. I hope he gets better soon......he sure does have me a stressed out. he was weighed at the vets yesterday and he weighted 4.8 lbs so he's to little to loose any weight!

I wouldn't give your dog any medication without first consulting your Vet.

When Conner is sick, I give him pedialite with a dropper. That is the only way he will drink when he is sick.

Cause we have it on hand for uses on our farm, and my Vet said to ive him 1cc of it today and then start him on a liquid antibiotic tomarrow.

He is still not eating. No luck with the ground hamberger and rice , no luck with canned dog food and now he is not drinking as of today. I tryed to force feed him yogert but he threw it up about a half hour later. He doesn't have diaria any more. I just syringed some poweraide in his mouth. So we will see if he keeps that down. Crossing my fingers this boy pulls out of this. I hope it is nothing serious medically. He will walk around just to be closer to me but when I am sitting he is Sleeping right next to me. He looks so sad and I wish there was some way of making him feel better. Thanks for all your help. and if ou know of any way of getting him to eat, please tell me. This is now the thrid day of hardly anything to eat.
