I forgot to add that my Old English Sheepdog has a very sensitive tummy.
If he gets diarrhea I have to take him off food completely for an entire day.
They next day I give him some boiled chicken breast cut up mixed with white rice. I give that for at least two meals (24 hrs) then, I make the same thing and add a bit of kibble if he can handle it I start giving him his food again.
I also add a chicken boullion cube or two to the rice so it has some taste.

Here is also a recipe for rice water which is supposed to help control diarrhea.
Rice Water Recipe to Control Diarrhea:
3 cups water (instead of 2)
1 cup regular enriched white rice

Bring water to boil.
Add rice and simmer for 15 minutes (instead of 20).
Pour off the water into an appropriate container.

Discard the rice solids, or use as filler in your favorite non-medical recipe.
The consistency reminds me of sticky-rice at Chinese restaurants.

The key seems to be the ratio of 3 to 1, water to rice. We use a large 8-quart dutch oven, 9 cups of water and 3 cups of rice. When we pour off the water, we have about 3 1/2 cups of rice water.
