| Worried about Recall... OMG... I can't believe this! I just finished taking Nemo to the vet today because he had a bad case of vomiting shortly after 2 a.m. on Thursday and has had diarrhea since then. It wasn't a terrible case so I put him on a bland diet and took him to the vet just to be on the safe side this morning. The doctor thinks it's just a case gastrointeritis (sp?) but now that I read this I'm worried that it may have been the Nutro Puppy Choice stew he last week! He's such a picky eater that I decided to try this last week and he just loved it! He's had maybe a total of 7 small packages in the last month, the last package being sometime last week, but he never had a bad reaction. Would the problem occur up to a week later? He only vomited that early morning and only had diarrhea since then but I'm starting to freak out. I'll be calling my vet as soon as I wake up tomorrow, I'm sure I mentioned he'd had the Nutro Choice in his diet but I'm not sure they were aware of the recall when I went in this morning. Would the blood panel show if this could be the problem? What are the symptoms to look for? BTW, Nemo is doing quite well and has been his playful self even while being a little sick. He's been a little on the mopey side since early this evening but I think it's mainly due to the 24hr no food diet, now that he can't eat his appetite seems to be acting up. Wish us luck, let's just hope it's nothing really serious |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Oh how scary. I would think the blood panel would show some indication of the problems the bad food is causing. Maybe you could call one of the 24 hour vets just for an opinion over the phone so you can rest easier tonight. I will keep good thoughts that your baby will be fine.

| Do you have more of the packets of food left? If so, and you bought them the same time and place as the ones he's eaten you can go look up the recall online and find out if your packets are any of the affected ones.

| I am sure it is just coincidence...just keep him on the chicken and rice for a few days. Do you have any pedialite or gatorade? give him a bit of that also. My vet said for diarhea they can have a 1/4 tea of kaopectate (sp?) 3x day Bailey had the doggy flu for 2 weeks in Nov, pretty awful stuff. Just make sure they stay hydrated, if his gums look greyish or start feeling tacky get him to the vets. Call your vet first thing Monday morning, if you need to ask questions call the ER Vet, but they will probley tell you to bring him in. Does he have a temp?

Luckily my vet is open every day of the week so I'm just waiting until nine to leave a message for him regarding the food, it probably has nothing to do with why he's sick but it's best to inform him just in case. Thanks for the advice though, one of my missions today is to stock up on some remedies that will work for Nemo if he ever gets sick again and your list helps a lot. Thanks again :-) | |

| Nemo Update Just got off the phone with the vet and the blood results showed no abnormalities... YEAH! He says all the tests were normal but that I should give him the antibiotics just to be on the safe side and to just call him if the problem starts up again. He's had the first of his mini-meals this morning and no problem so far so he looks to be on his way back. Thanks to all of you for your kind words and your good thoughts. |
